Who would Rafa pick as captain in the absense of senior players

Recent injuries to Gerrard, Carra, Sami and now Finnan made me wonder who would be the next player or two in line to be given the armband ?

 

Any thoughts ?

He was, aye. Xabi and Kuyt were both captains. As was Torres.

 

Nice policy, buying captains - I remember United's midfield at one point included the England, Ireland, Wales and Argentina (OK, he was a disaster) captains.

Alonso, Kuyt, Torres were the names that came to mind for me. What if none of those are playing, stretching the bounds of credibility a little but you never know. Carling cup for example.

Last season (?), might of been only a freindly, , Carra was captain but was subbed, and Steven wasn't on, and neither was Sami, so the armband went to Riise. Xabi was on the pitch at the time also.

Handing the armband around is different though, normally it just goes to the nearest senior player to the person coming off.
