RafaShanks Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I know he's a bit of a fruitcake, but a very talented striker, forgetting his current time at the Hammers at the moment. He would have had a full season (I know he's not been a regular) in the Premiership by the summer and would not need another season to get used to the hustle and bustle like other strikers abroad. I think he's got the attributes that we're looking for in a striker. He's robust, aggressive and a quality finisher. Would be good alternative to Bellamy. As we're likely to be dealing with MSI regarding Maschereno, we could kill two birds with one stone. We all know Rafa is an Argie lover. Thoughts?
honourablegeorge Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'd have him in a shot. He'd be our Rooney.
Hobbsie Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He would certainly take us a long way to realising the dream of fielding the ugliest team since time began
crisps Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Definitely... He'd probably replace Fowler and still think we'd need a better Goal Poacher to replace Crouch. I'd be very happy then
Flasher Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I think both Tevez and his soon to be LFC buddy are excellent players and whoever gets them next is very lucky.
Bailo Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'd sign him up in a second. Insta-fax if you will.
Kahnee Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'd have him in a shot. He'd be our Rooney. Ugly and over-hyped?
RafaShanks Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 Found this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK2ucVW6BKY Watch out for his goal celebration against River Plate.
Cobs Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 i thought him and Mascherano were covertly bought for WHU by Chelsea and were certs to be at Stamford Bridge next season?
New York Red Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'm not impressed with him so far. I'd say no.
IgPig Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Don't think he's a goalscorer particularly, which is what we need.
johngibo YPC Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Don't think he's a goalscorer particularly, which is what we need. quite similar to Kuyt i think. Depends on the price
Bootle Buck Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Personally I think one of them might be OK but if we would happen to sign both the circus would begin. However, we would comprise 60% of Argentina's 2010 World Cup team.
Gravy Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Found this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK2ucVW6BKY Watch out for his goal celebration against River Plate. He panics in front of goal doesn't he.
Magic8Ball Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Don't think he's a goalscorer particularly, which is what we need.Actually thinking we need an out and out goal scorer is wrong -- we need goals but not a goals scorer necessarily wait for it if we were to buy 2 creative wide players, I think they could provide enough assists for our current strikers to more than double their scoring average and that would be enough for us to improve as a team
crisps Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) Looks sublime in a BOCA shirt - if he can adapt to this league I think he'll be superb. You dont win south american footballer of the years something like 3 times in a row for nowt. found a decent assist from diego too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAp3rnLePvA anyone seen much of him? Edited January 12, 2007 by mikeyj
Tosh Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He panics in front of goal doesn't he. But we all know Argentinian defenders aren't very good.
Woodsyla Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Do or do not! There is no try! Unless you are Spurs
theredfella Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I'd sign him in a heartbeat, one of the most talented young players in the world. Okay, he hasn't been on fire in England but form is temporary etc. Other than Kuyt, I'd swap any of our strikers for him.
Owen1978 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He is the sort of playmaker we need, someone with flair and skill would be a revelation imo in a good team. Kuyt upfront by himself with this guy playing behind in a free role.
Hector McDougal Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Actually thinking we need an out and out goal scorer is wrong -- we need goals but not a goals scorer necessarily wait for it if we were to buy 2 creative wide players, I think they could provide enough assists for our current strikers to more than double their scoring average and that would be enough for us to improve as a teamI tend to go along with this. Two really creative and penetrating wide midfielders would enable us to score a lot more goals. Don't think that our strikers are the problems. Kuyt only has one less league goal this season than Rooney or Saha. Think that someone like Ribery would be perfect for us, can play on both flanks and has the skill to be our C Ronaldo. Maybe Mancini from Roma might be an option but he only plays on the right and I think we're more in need on the left.I often listen to Tim Vikery on the the bbc 5live world football phone in on a Fri night. When the two argies signed for West Ham, he said that he had reservations about Tevez's ability to adapt to england, unlike Mascherano.
Guest RedLegend Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 No. Not for me. Have never been particularly impressed with him.
