I tend to agree. I think he's some way to go yet before fulfilling his potential. This new Vieira tag bandied about is no help. I'm a big fan btw, he plays his heart out and it's clear to see why Rafa rates him.

Even accounting for Rafas love of options and possibilities isn't it likely that Momos place in the midfield will be the one most threatened by Mascheranos introduction to the side?

Agree - he's been a pretty good energetic player for the club and scored some spectacular goals but I've never rated him as a defender and he's a winger of very limited capabilities. His time is nearly up as we step up to the level we need for catching the chavs and mancs.

True..I Cant believe people are prepared to differentiate between American and Dubain money..it's all oil money and these people are all global capitalists. Moores, for me, was the last keeper of the original Liverpool traditions - now we're entering uncharted waters. It really looks like Gillett/Hicks at this stage. Lets just hope Gilletts sports background is a positive.

Crouch was perfect for yesterdays game and played brilliantly to his strengths. It's a perfect example of those options and possibilities Rafa speaks of and makes selling him a moot point. However it's impossible to defend his heading weaknesses...he was fouled by Essien for that chance and we should really have had a pen but he's missed countless other good chances, including a sitter yesterday, from not being able to get direction and power on his headers...it's a baffling weakness for a top player. I like him and consider him essential to the squad but he'll never be the legend he could be if he were that little bit more complete in his all around game.

Finally some sanity. What we have here is a classic crisis of confidence throughout the club. Winning is the only remedy...it's not as complicated as many are making out - nothing succeeds like success.

There's really no point in singling out individual players for criticism...they all have to take responsibility as a team, and so does Rafa.

Garcia must be designated scapegoat for todays inept performance. He's always been frustrating and been indulged by Rafa...but you cant criticize him in order to deflect from the fact that NONE of our so called big players have played yet this season:Gerrard,Xabi,Carra,Riise..and all of the new buys bar Kuyt imo

Funnily enough I have the same feeling - nervous about the derby and more confident than ever of extending our hoodoo over the chavs. Might put money on it 6 points from these two fixtures would be a title winning platform.

Bellamys rep preceeds him now, a little unfairly imo cos he's a pssionate player - so refs and linesmen aren't going to be moved by his protestations. Thats why I think he should tone it down to decrease the likelyhood of getting stupid bookings.

I love players like this, they are the lifeblood of a good team...Baros did it too but with less intelligence and his end product wasnt good enough. We get it every week from Carra and Momo - Bellamy's been very impressive so far.

The defensive bad that has been mentioned is all down to a nescessary period of rebalance for a team with new personnel and a more offensive, higher style of play. I expect we're going to concede a good few more goals than last season, at least in the first 6 weeks or so of the season, trying to get it right...the hope is we score more to counter it. I've no doubt we will. As for Riena, we should all get behind him...he's a gem. I think that Zamora goal was freakish(he laughably claimed it was intentional on MOTD) . Pepes positioning error was understandable but im sure he will have taken responsibility for it. The measure of a good keeper is how they respond to their mistakes and the confidence of the manager and the fans is very important.
