New York Red Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 These are clearly the most prominent footballers of our generation. What is astonishing is how close these two are in the area of goalscoring. Ronaldo is older of course, but here is where they stand as of today: Ronaldo: Club 518, International 71, Total 589 Messi: Club 511, International 74, Total 585 Really crazy how close they are.
Barnes' left foot Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Can't believe Messi's record - 500 goals for Barcelona and he's not even 30 yet. Amazing.
New York Red Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 Way more reputable than Pele's claim to 1000+.
Flasher Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Messi is such a tough b*****d too. Gets on with it. Ramos was lucky Messi saw him coming yesterday.
Earl Hafler Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ronaldo is the more complete player. Messi the more likeable.
Barnesy_10 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Blimey I thought Ronaldo was younger than Messi Both quality players but Messi tips it for me in the fact he is a likeable guy and not an ex Manc
Hassony Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ronaldo is the more complete player. Messi the more likeable. In what way Ronaldo is more complete? Messi is perfection
doug_mac Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 In what way Ronaldo is more complete? Messi is perfectionspot on
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ronaldo is the more complete player. Messi the more likeable. I'd say the opposite. Ronaldo is power, no way he'd sashay his way through the defence like Messi did for his first
Gilps Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Not having a massive tax dodger described as a likable guy, even if it is only in comparison to Ronaldo.

Those statistics for them both are ridiculous.
PhilM Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Ronaldo's goalscoring record for Real Madrid is ridiculous. He's got 395 goals in 387 games for them.
Earl Hafler Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 In what way Ronaldo is more complete? Messi is perfection Ronaldo is brilliant on crosses including headers. You could play him as a 9, whereas Messi wouldn't be anywhere near as effective in that position.
PhilM Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Messi is 577 in 500 Is this some more of your legendary grasp of statistics again? Have another look.
Hassony Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Is this some more of your legendary grasp of statistics again? Have another look. It's american, like when they do the dates the other way around
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) oopsmad thing - in the same time 09-10 season onwards they've barely been injured. 46 is the fewest games Messi has played, 35 for Ronaldo (1st season), 47 since. In that time Messi has 420 goals from 416 apps, Ronaldo 395 from 387 Edited April 24, 2017 by Sir Tokyo Sexwale
Murphman Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Not having a massive tax dodger described as a likable guy, even if it is only in comparison to Ronaldo. Bugger off, Ken Dodd has more talent than both of them and a more likeable guy never existed.
kop205 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) Messi is better. Oh, and Ken Dodd has always seemed to be an awful human being Edited April 24, 2017 by kop205
Murphman Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Messi is better. Oh, and Ken Dodd has always seemed to be an awful human being Says who, I've never heard a bad word.
Swipe Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) Not sure how anyone could think Ronaldo is a better footballer to be honest. He's magnificent, but Messi is just poetry. Edited April 24, 2017 by Swipe
New York Red Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 I'd say that Ronaldo has the edge in the air and on free kicks. Other than that, Messi wipes the floor with him.
