In two years time, where will we be.......

F*ck off NYR this is not a transfer thread, but a serious football discussion. ;)

FWIW - I think we'll be back in the European Cup, season after next.

i have been asking myself a similar question over the last few months, which is basically how long did i think it would take before we are a genuine force again in the league coupling that with our youth set up and how long that would take to start really producing top players consistently not just 1 this year and another in a few years.i think the academy is around 3-5 yrs away from being a proper production line and i am not talking about the time it takes from seeing the likes of sterling now in the reserves to making his debut in the first team but the over all quality of the academy,it needs to be of a very high standard to produce players of a very high standard consistently,as pep segura put it "to create the way".I think this is more important than if we are in the champions league next season,we have the right people in place now and if we get the academy right we will be a proper force in the long term.

With proper investment and bringing in the right players we could make the champions league next season, heck we would have had a shot this season if kenny was in charge instead of hodgson.I believe we will spend but not as much as people think,i think many are a little over excited at the prospect of bringing in 4or 5 top class players which will cost somewhere in the region of 100mill because of what happened during January.Even half that will be enough to push us into the champions league places with kenny in charge. If we spend wisely and the players we bring in are successful than i reckon we could be challenging for the league in two or three seasons.we seem to have the right people at the club now from the youth set up all the way up to the owners, all with the same vision and this is really the key for long term success.I am really looking forward now to the next few seasons and "hopefully" watching a great side being built playing proper football and all backed up by the academy which will be producing players who fit in with our philosophy and fit seamlessly into our first team.

I'm optimistic of where we will go in the next few years.

Granted we need to deal with the likes of Carra and more importantly Gerrard coming towards the ends of their careers and we may yet have to replace Reina if he believes his future is away from Anfield but we have a manager who knows how to win this league and who can spot a player.

After the tendency under Houllier and Benitez for us to be over-coached, Dalglish knows the importance in winning the league of committing players forward in numbers and defending higher up the park. As first signings go, Suarez and Carroll look pretty impressive based on what we've seen of both this season.

Clearly, the ownership position helps too as you'd hope he has some money to work with now.

Winning the league next season should be the aim of everyone at the club and the players coming in should be bought with that in mind.

Absolutely. We are about 4 top players away from this aim, and we should have the money to do that this summer.

i think we need too many players and it will take a lot more then we will spend in one transfer window to get them in order for us to have a real go next season.

Pending transfer business but next year top 4, season after that challenge for 1st. The year after going to be difficult with Stevie, Carra, Kuyt beyond their peak and critical the new ones like Suso, Wisdom, Coady, Shelvey make the step up.

not buying any more squad players

instead, reaping the rewards of our hard work with the youth players

so...a few more superstars, plus kids coming through and used instead of squad fillers as needed = Pl and CL double in 2013

We win the league next season, im pretty sure of that.

I'm increasingly optimistic on that score which is miraculous as we are not that far away from those performances at stoke and at home to wolves

Buying squad players is just a s*** concept, a waste of time, money and careers.

earlier this season, I genuinely thought we might be going down.

now I think we have a shot at winning the lague next season.

partly shows how far we've come, and partly shows how moodswingy we are.

And partly how there is no-one to be scared of in this league.

Two years from now, i.e. March.

I think we will be in a position to win the league, we may not be favourites but we will still be 'contenders'. Next season I think we will get back into the top 4.

Of course, Arsenal aren't far from being a really good team; Chelsea and Man City will keep pushing; you can never ever rule out Man Utd; Spurs are heading in the right direction; and one of the 'next tier' could land themselves a great manager and fly up the table. I'm confident we'll keep improving, but whether that'll be enough to keep pace, I don't know.

I think City will fail to get in the CL this season and part company with their manager, thus another massive spending spree and rebuilding begins. Spurs are good, but not great so I believe that these two are the ones we can displace next season.

I think that our strike force in 18 months time is going to be the best in the league.

Amen. This should absolutely be our target. I believe we WILL be challenging for the league next season.

To state the obvious, everything depends on a good summer of transfers and some luck with injuries. We need five very good new players, who preferably won't take long to bed in.

It's a big ask, so I'm not particularly confident we can do it all in one go. But on the other hand, there are no teams in this league that I look at and think we've got no chance of catching them.

We seem to have better owners than we've had for a long time, and obviously a good manager. So the signs are promising.

Carra will be third/fourth choice centre back, but will be being groomed for the management 'team' (note :- not THE Manager)

Kelly will be widely recognised as the best defender of his generation and a future Liverpool captain.

Stevie will be fit for the whole season and will be a contender once again for player of the season.

Suarez will be a superstar, and he and Carroll will be on their way to their second 45 goals a season together.

Shelvey will have nailed a place in the side, Sterling, Coady and Flanagan will be playing regularly from the bench and starting the odd League game.

We'll be looking forward to the Quarter Final draw in the Champions League

We'll be chasing 2nd, with Arsenal miles ahead (but wait till NEXT season).

Utd are still in shock, languishing in 15th place after the retirements of Scholes, Giggs and Ferdinand, having never recovered from Fergies public fling with the tepid corpse of Paul the Octopus.

You were doing fine until this point, for this to come true, Everton would have to be relegated this season.
