Torres not celebrating second goal

When Gerrard scored the second goal, he ran straight towards Torres who looked dis-interested. Gerrard then just continued to run towards the flag, while Torres jogged off to the half way line, not at all celebrating.

Its the first time I have ever noticed that between the two of them, is there something possibly wrong? Argument maybe?

Torres looks frustrated as f***.

There are plenty of refs in this league who would have loved to have sent him off for that studs up challenge when he collided with the defender. Stupid challenge and very unlike Torres. He can take care of himself, but that challenge was just asking for trouble.

He isn't the only player who looks frustrated, mind.

they'll be saying that about us next...if they aren't already

Ian Holloway - "I'm going to attack and test their back 4."

Steve Bruce - "I've played in a couple of sides that have dominated/controlled the game here [at Anfield], but never managed one [until today]."

That second comment is true and very worrying

And shows the difference between this season and last, despite what people say

They will aswell, and what will we do? Will we say : fine, our attackers are far better than yours, bring it on? Or sit deep in our own half desperately waiting for a long ball for Torres on the counter?

No one needs to answer this by the way.

Torres looks as fed up playing his game as I have ever seen a player in a Liverpool shirt.

His body language indicates to me a total disgust with the way things are going at the moment. From selection to tactics to ownership.

I think he loves the club, but is disgusted at see ing it in its current state.

Gerrrard was not way over the top, I think he was trying to fire up the fans and his team in his own way.

Bolton beating the Mancs 2-1.

That's not gonna bode well for when we go there.

Any team that believes in having a go will beat us.

Absolutely. People are always getting at him for moping around, and now he's getting it in the neck for showing some spirit, and trying to gee everyone up.

Perhaps we can put together a committee to decide on a set of acceptable reactions for various situations, taking into account all the variables of opposition, time played, score at the time of incident etc etc

As for Torres, he's clearly f***ed off over a variety of things, but I wouldn't question his commitment to the cause either, nor his relationship with anyone in the team.

Torres probably had something silly like trying to win the game in mind.

Indeed, two players with the same thought in mind, but different reactions to the situation. Shocking behaviour.

In my opinion every goal is worth celebrating. One of Gerrard's qualities is his appetite for the game, snuff that out and you have a shadow of a player. I've read people having a pop at the captain because he looks disinterested, he celebrates a well taken goal that prevents a second loss at Anfield and we are now criticising him for going over the top. Cant win can he.

As for Mr Torres, maybe he should start taking a leaf out of the captains book, he's getting the sympathy vote in here but perhaps some of you might want to reflect on the fact that his disappointment must be slightly tempered by the £100,000 a week he picks up. Maybe thats tough on him, but thats life all round at the moment. He's a professional, maybe he wants to start acting a bit more like it

He's been involved in all our league goals scored so far bar 1 (admittedly that's only 5) - he wasn't on the pitch for it I believe.

God knows Gerrard is no sacred cow to me but to have a go at him for an OTT goal celebration when to be quite frank we are looking at a season where we will need every single point we can get in order to stay in that division - because that is how bad we are - is beyond pathetic, it really is.

People need to have a f***ing word with themselves.

Give me 'OTT goal celebration Gerrard' over the sullen, sulky imposter who dragged his a*** around the pitch last season.

I'm no body language expert, mainly because I regard body language as too ludicrous a pseudo-science to take seriously, but did Torres look any happier during the World Cup? It could be he's mainly frustrated trying to get back to full fitness.
