The players suffer playing in an empty stadium anyway, it's not like you can hand down a punishment that affects only the fans.

 

It would cut it out in a instant, guarantee that. Tough luck to the players of the team who get penalised, but this is bigger than their ambitions are.

There have been loads of "behind closed doors" bans for ages now, it's still a problem. The players can still win a game without the fans there, often the fans don't lose much.

 

You start kicking clubs out of tournaments, there's a real and permanent cost to it.

Once one or two clubs get banned it will soon stop other fans from doing it. UEFA need to get tough with this s***, but they wont.

You can't start tailoring punishments based on how good a team is. Remember this problem extends to national teams as well. Even if Rabotnicki aren't very good, if it (for example) continued into Macedonian national games, they'd soon get hurt by being banned from Euro Championship qualifiers.

Behind closed doors is pointless becuase they get f*** all people going to their games anyway - they made more money from last night than they do from a whole league season, although a lot of that was TV rights so maybe make them forefeit that.

 

All the same, I don't see fines or closed doors as actually ever stopping this sort of s***.

 

Bans from the competition just might do, and to be honest it is just tough s*** on the players, this is a bigger issue than them and their 'right' to play

 

UEFA will never, ever ban clubs for this kind of stuff though because Spain and Italy would never have a representative in any of their competitions ever again. That being the case, this kind of stuff - and was the booing of Kyrgiakos not racially motivated as well? - will just go on and on, sadly.

 

And these sides almost always have one or two African or Brazilian players of their own, which makes it all the more farcical that their fans come out with this sort of s***.
