we know we're in the s*** now. we know we're playing s*** now, we know we're in real trouble - it's beyond dispute. there's no point having anymore threads about who's done what wrong or rafa or lucas or anything now. we are where we are, we're possibly in a tail spin, the only thing to do is get behind the team and support lfc. it's support at it's most visceral, it's what it's like to support middlesborough or something...but at the end of the day, it's what we do, and our chosen allegience is to the mighty reds. i'm sure everyone is bored now of stating and restating their take on proceedings, people like malcolm x wouldn't understand, but it's a hollow pleasure indeed to say i told you so when you see your beloved team in a f***ing mess.

what will be will be, time to do the simple thing and just support.

just my opinion.

instead of George playing music on wednesday in the build up to the game, he should play Shankly interviews at full blast. get the crowd all wound up and then get behind the team

Sing when you're winning.

It's easy to support a team during the good times.

I hope the support on Wednesday blows the roof off.

im taking about on here as well tbh

the agenda needs moving on

I agree. We can go round and round with these topics all day but it's just making things worse for us. The last week has been depressing as f*** anyway and it just increases our pre-match tension with each passing day.

This forum is a release, a virtual pub to get drunk in and moan etc.

They do, but they get shouted down and then thrown out by the bouncers.

well done. within 10 posts you've done the exact opposite of the sentiment behind the thread.

Aye, spot on this. A lot of people have been expressing their firmly held beliefs in many threads the last few weeks, and no matter who may be right or wrong on any particular issue, it's got to the point where it's groundhog day after virtually every game. You could almost write a lot of the threads a week in advance, you know what's coming.

The only way is up, and regardless of the many, many issues on and off the pitch, I'm of the opinion that searching for the positives amongst the wreckage of the season, is the only way forward now.

I am seeing the team I love for the first time this season (away to Pompey on Sat) and I cannot wait. I have to sit with Pompey fans, but I will be cheering the mighty Reds (on the inside at least).

Goes for the fans, the players and everything this.

Can go 2 ways. Wilt or defy.

We're doing the former at the moment when we desperately need to do the latter

As i said in the match thread i thought Arsenal were lucky to get a point let alone all 3 in that game. We had too many players not fit and they ran out of steam second half.

I think we'll give Wigan a good shoeing and then with improved fitness our results will pick up.

Honest

And a correct opinion at that

Time for some siege mentality, fully agree Mike. Am going on Wednesday, really hope everyone is up for it.

I'm pretty resigned to the way things are now myself, that we are playing for third or fourth at best. Its not that surprising we're struggling to find fluency though with so many players having been out for a while injured, or actually carrying knocks at present.

I guess the most disappointing thing is when you look at how we finished last season and how much weaker United and even Chelsea are this season, it will go down as a major opportunity missed and a major frustration. I think the level of expectation is resulting in feelings running higher, and people's disappointment being that much greater.

But I know one thing I've been told which I think is exactly right and that is never make a big decision when you are angry, never let your emotions guide you too much. It easy to let that happen when you're watching a game; we all expect Liverpool to win every game they play, and to see them lose so many times recently does make you angry and frustrated.

I thought at times in the first half Sunday we played like we did last season, there was encouragement there. The second half was disappointing, but we went down to an own goal and another ridiculously good finish from that little f*cker Arshavin.

I still think we're going to hit our stride sometime in the near future and go on a run. But as I've said before if I have to write off this season it'll be incredibly disappointing but I'm willing to do so, then give the boss and these players (as well as hopefully a couple of additions) the chance to start over again next summer.

I've disagreed with plenty of Rafa's team selection decisions this year, but I'd venture a guess that at every club in the country there's the same kind of debate about who whould be playing. I think overall when you look at the club and our achievements over the time Rafa has been here he deserves patience through a very poor patch.

And thats it for me. That view isn't going to change whether we win or lose the next 3 games, or whether we finish 10th or 3rd. I think taking a long term view is more than a run of 10 games, or 20 games or even one full season. I'm not going to change my view on the back of poor results of any of those lengths of time, because it has been formed over 5 good years.

I do feel a certain level of loyalty to Rafa, but of course my loyalty to Liverpool Football Club is all that really matters. I say the above out of loyalty to the club, not to the manager. I think it is in the best interests of the club not to change manager this season, and that will be my opinion going forward. I feel the acceptance Mike is talking about because of that.

So like Mike, its just that loyalty to the club that I'm feeling now, the desire to help the team battle their way out of a very difficult and unfortunate time. We are where we are, whats gone is gone and we need steady hands and vociferous support to carry us to that all important Champions League place, which is crucially important to the club's future.

People are welcome to discuss the manager, that kind of thing is what forums are for. But the manager's position really isn't up for any debate for me, until the summer at the very earliest and only then if we were to finish mid table. I think by making that decision it makes me personally less agitated, because my support isn't compromised.

Like Rafa always says, I can just take each game as it comes because I'm comfortable for everyone to stay in place as they are for the rest of this season because I honestly believe that is the best thing for the club. Its the way things have always been done at this club, so I don't see why we're suddenly going to start changing.
