its looks like the offender....is in 2 minds when running towards the ball, to me....it seems like hes thnking about placing his foot on the top of the ball to do a drag back.....by the time he gets there, the victim has slid in and won the ball....with all the momentum from the offender down on the guys ankle...

 

Basically i think its just awful play rather than malicious intent.....ie roy keane against that city player which was blatently intentional.

Agree with that. Looks terrible but it's almost like he's not sure what to do rather than jumping in trying to injury him.
