The straw that broke the camel's back, final nail in the coffin and all that.

Twice in the last few minutes, Torres was in a prime position in and around the penalty area absolutely SCREAMING for the ball when Babel had it out wide. Babel dallies with it, is double or triple teamed, and loses it. Aurelio was also out there to help Babel more than a few times, when he could have simply passed it back...instead, he again chose to f*** around with the ball and lose it instead.

The most infuriating thing about yesterday was that not ONCE in the last few minutes did we get the ball to Torres in a good position, when he took up plenty.

Now I'm all for the 'lesser' players growing a pair of b******s and taking up the challenge themselves, but when you've got your prime match winner in a much better position than you're in, well f***ing hell then.

Good bye Ryan.

His heart hasn't been in it for months now, I'd lost patience with him a long time ago, thought last season he was good, looked promising and looked like the one squad player who could have stepped up to the mark and establish himself as a first teamer. What a waste of talent, he is just another Cisse, has all the attributes but not the brains. That miss against Portsmouth was f***ing shocking.

It's quite clear from his body language, and his involvement in the team, that he'll be off in the summer.

Good riddance. The definition of a supreme athlete that's also unfortunately thick as f***.

No balls either

he does two things:

1 - run into defenders with the ball & loses possession

2 - holds the ball up until the defenders tackle him & he loses possession

I think we'd have won yesterday if he hasn't come on & pushed Yossi off the left-wing

What does my head in is that he shows glimpses of what he can do. Even yesterday, he clipped the ball past Bridge (?) and left him for dead. Trouble is he then ran 20 yards with ball, cut back inside, then cut back again, then got tackled. He must have been caught in possession 3-4 times in his brief appearance. He appears to select the wrong option time after time after time. You'd think he'd learn from his mistakes, but it's not looking likely at the moment.

For Feck's sake when will everyone come to the realization this lad just doesn't have the heart nor ambition to be the player we need. I remember reading about how laid back he was and how difficult it is for him to get motivated and it has shown during his career here. He needs to go back to Holland and have a few seasons were he actually can prove himself and then see what happens to him from there. We need to get what we can for him from Ajax and move on. He basically can do two things

1. Run aimlessly into defenders

2. s*** out of tackles.

He was certainly a costly buy at ten million quid. Don't think we would get our money back.,that's for sure.

As frustrating as he undoubtedly is, I'd still like to see him get more than 7 minutes - particularly when Riera has the type of game he had yesterday.

Whatever else, when Babel is on the pitch the threat of his pace and strength attracts the attention of opposition defenders. Now you might say that they needn't bother but it happens all the same and it should give us more space elsewhere on the park.

Theoretically yes, but all the space for the other players on the park is a bit useless if he just holds on to the ball and then proceeds to lose it.

He can't seem to grasp the idea that doing something good like that to create some space is usually followed by passing it to a teammate who can capitalise on it - every time he does something good he wastes it by keeping possession too long.

You'd think this kind of thing could be coached out of him, its basically immaturity - either Rafa isn't saying the right things to him (unlikely) or Babel is monumentally thick (seemingly more likely).

I think he's an absolute pussy myself, that's an issue for him, but plenty of players get away with that. I think in the last minute he jumped a tackle in the area when a braver player might have toed the ball and got us a penalty

bit of a give away when he asks for a loan move when we're sat top of the league!

frustrating because he has so much natural ability but for the money we can get for him id get shot and try somebody else.

He has been like this for years now. Even when he played at Ajax he was not consistent and kept cuting and cutting untill every player was back to defend. Thats why I never understood why Rafa wanted him. Nobody overhere could understand why Rafa bought him. He was never that good.

Everytime Babel is brought on i get excited and then 5 minutes later remember that he is actually rubbish and wonder why i bother.

 so true

2 minutes after that the board goes up saying how much injury time there is going to be and I wonder if it might be worth giving him a bit longer on the pitch next time.

Chances are he isn't going to make it here but I'd like to see him come on earlier than he usually does - especially when Riera is having a shocker like he was yesterday.

You have to wonder what he practices in training.

Get the ball at half way line.

Check which way we are heading.

Run that way really quickly. Get to the corner of the area.

Look down at the ball and run into the defender.

Lose ball.

Call to boss.. “what was I supposed to do at the end? – was it a shot or a pass?… I stopped and waited for someone to tell me but that defender took it away again”

Repeat.

I kind of agree, but then I also dispair.

ElZhar looked out of his depth yesterday, he didn't offer much.

I dunno why Babel has to play on the left. He isn't cutting it there. Play him centrally or on the right ffs. Yossi was way better on the left

He looked lost again.

However, it looks quite daft when our lads give him the ball then f*** off and leave him alone to weave some magic past 3 opponents.

We gave him the ball and then f***ed off from him. No runs, no options. Not saying Babel wouldn't have lost the ball anyway, but that was truly crazy stuff.

babel on the right would surely be a better option than el zhar.
