A call to other parents.

I have a 2 year old and another on the way. How, as parents have you kept your kids in the true faith? I am going to buy a little liver kit for the kids, but still that won't stop kids will it? I saw a kid wanting to buy a chelsea kit, and even though his dad was in a man u top, it got me concerned!

Thoughts and help!!

PS. As we are now in australia, its even harder. Luckily we do watch all the games.

get them tattooed asap

Teaching them the songs seems to work! I'd start off with the Peter Crouch song rather than all 143 verses of 'A Liverbird upon my Chest' though!

singing is a good way to get ya kids into footy, worked for my nephew when i was babysitting him, he was fluent in many lfc anthems by 3 years of age. I also played playstation matches as lfc against everyone and took great delight at worming in hatred for other teams and informing him of our success.

however despite this my nephew went to a school dominated with manu supporters - his faith wavered in the good of lfc at around 8 years of age - especially as my own mother bought him a manc shirt.(she didnt want him to be bullied - disgracefully spineless)

i told him his classmates are all like sheep, bleating utd, asked him to ask them if they knew who uniteds leftback was, to name a stand at the ground - to even name the ground. Even as a liverpool supporter he knew more about united than most in his class.

Told him he could buy into myth united and bleat away like the rest of his clueless school chums - i'd like to say i argued with him to be brave enough to stand alone however i think what unltimately swayed it was by terrifing him with notions of the devil and devil worshipping, then topped it with some emotional blackmail - that i wouldnt like him anymore.

whatever it was that made him stay with lfc was aided by the fact we started winning some silverware again - inlcuding a couple of victories against united.

My friend told me that when he was younger and the Mancs had just beaten us in the FA Cup Final in the mid-90s, he asked his dad if he could support United. His dad said, 'Alright son, but you'll have to leave the house.'

Seemed to work :D

Pay someone in a [appropriate rival] shirt to sneer them after we lose to them... It will raise their hatred of them to pyschotic proportions!

When me brother was five-ish he wanted a Tottenham shirt because he liked Gary Lineker. Me dad made him stand in the yard in the pissing down rain until me ma came in. Our kid's hated Spurs (and Lineker) ever since.

Thanks lads, needed that

If all else fails, batter him over the head with a pillow incessantly - worked with my brother when we were kids :D

Surely it'll be easier as you're living in Australia? It's not like he'll be bumping into many Chelsea or Everton fans is it?

And you'll be watching the Liverpool matches at home all the time.

A friend of mine has a 2-year-old and she's getting him to 'kiss the birdie' on the LFC crest. Seems to be doing the trick, he refuses to go anywhere without his kit and loves kissing the birdie! And he was yelling " 'pool, 'pool, 'pool " over the phone to me the other night. So, I think you need to bring it down to a level the child can understand.

p.s. this kid's in Oz, too.

The big mistake people make is in buying them other clothes as well. If you can't wear the clothes you love, love the clothes you're in. :)

If you can find letters small enough, get Kewell and teh no 7 on theback of the little Liver Kit, then buy him an Aussie shirt with Kewell on, and you will have created indestructible logic to tie a life with the Reds to a life down-under.

Oh, and have a word in Rafa's ear to extend H's contract, or teh whole plan will fail miserably

My youngest had kits, t-shirts, scarves, the lot, then all of sudden wanted to support Everton, then Manu, then any team in blue. I was distraught, till I found out it was because in his eyes, Liverpool FC was something that took my attention away from him. SO, started to play games with him with Liverpool in the background, cheering for the goals and then Kahnee gave him a Liverpool rucksack and we are now back on track  Was bloody touch and go for a while there though  so include him in all LFC things, make sure he sees it as something that you do together, cause I was lucky, very lucky and got away with it.
