I know a few in the match thread thought he was quiet. I thought he was excellent. Full of running and tracking. Always getting stuck in and looked dangerous. He was welll up for the game , played a really professional game and scored a great goal.

Well in. :D

it is difficult to single any one player out for his performance.

they all played in a thoroughly professional manner that looked to have been pre written by the manager.

i thought he was very good. Looked nice 'n fresh after his break at the weekend!

I like him in that role, given freedom to roam, and letting Alonso and Mascher do what they do best. He played well, popped up all over the place - but he does that intelligently these days, rather than running around like a nut, like he used to a few years ago.

He had a good game. Led the team well and that was a great header for his goal! Loved how Kuyt made a back for him as it where

Having Alonso, Masch/Momo behind him allows Gerrard to play his natural game (and not try and do it all) which it seems to me is what Rafa has tried to accommodate too. I don't see Gerrard on the right as a down side at all. He's playing a free roll like Ronaldinho does for Barca though he does track as well.

I personally think this is the perfect roll for him. Shackles off do what your instinct tell you to do, cue the firt goal tonight which a wide right player wouldnt have been anywhere near.

The lad is fantastic, I think we should just sit back and appreciate him. Same with Carra, Agger, Crouch, Alonso, Finnan, Pepe and Mascherano.... We have got some top players here now.

after Istanbul SG had the season of his life - how many goals last season? Loads!

If we win in Athens I expect a similar response, that coupled with the summers buys and I'll be happy.

Now roll on Athens...

Goopd performance tonight. Whilst I love Momo, you can see that Mascherano's passing ability lets Stevie roam forwards more, as he doesn't have to stay tucked in so close to provide Momo a second option.

Thought he was excellent, myself. Tucked 'round when required and basically played the position as opposed to his mood tonight. Well in.

Played well without having to kill himself, thats good as it means others are doing their jobs.

I like the squad Rafa has assembled and we only need 3 players IMHO to really challenge for the title.

I thought he didn't look arsed to be honest. And he didn't track back well, he didn't really do it at all and Mascherano kept coverig for him. On a few occasions there was acres of space on the right and Alonso and Mascherano were looking out their but Stevie had drifted in so they had to play at back to Agger or Carra.

I wouldn't say he was anything better than average last night or on Saturday.

Must have been some shout he gave for his goal.....Kuyt (?) was making well sure he didn't get in the way :-)

It was . . . they mentioned it (and you could hear it) on BBC news just after the game

Harsh I think. That was his fourth game in ten days; he was almost certainly tired rather than not arsed and following Rafas instructions when not tracking back.

The day Stevie isn't bothered in a red shirt playing a Euro quarter final I'll tie my tackle into a pretzel. :o

Dont think anyone was anything special last night but it was a solid team performance.

Never understood people saying Gerrard not looking arsed though. Days of him running round like a bulldozer are over and he's a completely different player. He's alot more subtle now and looks to release the ball a lot quicker. And it was a very strange game last night, heck, just look at how many times Carragher and Agger walked around doing nothing but passing to eachother, lookingaimless/half arsed before hoofing it forward.

I thought he was ok but nothing more.

Did his job

likewise.

Up to his goal I thought he was poor enough. After the goal, and second half in particular, he was superb.
