I don't think I've seen such negative posts on here since Ged's last days as manager.

 

 

* We've got a decent squad that isn't that far away from being a really effective, and with some luck, more consistent side

 

* We've got a cracking manager that ANY club in Europe would bin their current manager for

 

* We're in the last eight of the European Cup against the weakest team left in the competition

 

* We've just been taken over by progressive owners who've promised to finance significant transfer monies and an even bigger stadium than the one we thought we were getting

I think the foundations are being laided to enable us to make a real attempt to win the league. In that respect, I think we are in an improving position to win the league. If we get a genuine 20 goal a season player next year we will win the league.

So. We have to progress, year on year on year with less resources than Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal. What the fook are we going to do when we win the League and Champions League in the same season? Win the fooking Intergalactic cup?

 

Perhaps you wanted Rafa to win the League without buying ANY players. Keep Djimi, Diao and Vladi - win the feckin League.... Ok, so not all of the players he bought have been instant successes. Nor was Henry in his first season. Nor was Ronaldo in his first season. I can summarise this only in this way ....

Regardless of points tallies anyone who doesn't think we're a better side under Rafa than we were under Gerard Houllier needs to gouge out their own eyes, because they clearly ain't working.

 

And that's coming from someone who defended Ged in the latter stages of his time here, some people really hated him but I could never do that. His style of play though was far more limited than ours is currently, even though we have areas to sort out still. You only have to look at our performances in the Nou Camp under Gerard and then under Rafa this year to see how much more potential this squad has.

 

These things take time. Many changes needed to be made. It took Fergie a lot longer than Rafa has had so far to make his Manchester United side the regular title winners they are now, so all that is required is patience.

 

Rome wasn't built in a day - Rafa is and always has been the right man for the job, and the league apart we have a real chance of number six still this year...

Ferguson went through two or three teams before he got it right...wenger fell lucky with the back four and keeper he inherited (plus Bergkamp who rioch bought) and Chelsea have had Abramovich

 

we are a different entity........and given patience he will get there

 

but patience is the key
