Celtic Forum's reaction to the Justice Protest..

I don't find their support at all surprising, but I really have no idea why those in England seem so much less supportive.

i guess there's no rivalry between celtic and LFC, whereas in england - regional stereotyping aside - a lot of football supporters can't see past the fact that it's fans of another club and fail to realise that this could have happened to them. there must be an element of "there's no smoke without fire" too, in the minds of those who take at face value what they read. unfortunately too, part of human nature is often not to take any interest, let alone show any compassion, for tragic victims with whom there is no affinity.

It's very interesting to see people on this forum slag off Celtic fans every so often. It seems to always come up when a thread is about them joining the English Premier League and how some say they would want this "sectarian scum" visiting.

I think they are great fans. Maybe this will help prove it to the disbelievers who support our club.

Celtic fans know their history, they also know the sun was churning out lies about Irish Catholics long before hillsborough happened.

though in saying that, theyve a few songs about the Ibrox disaster.

This made me laugh

"His column in the Sun before the WC was a wind-up.

His editorship of the same rag, however, was a dangerous and shameful abuse of power and, as a result, he should be repeatedly battered about the testes with a rusty crowbar by a large Scouser for his sins.

Fingers crossed. "

What examples are there of other fans not supporting the protest? apart from the usual rubbish on the manc forums? The Arsenal fans were clapping and plenty of other fans were calling five live on saturday night?

LFC fans are supposed to support Rangers !

There's always been a good rapport between the two sets of fans (clubs too) & the cities are similar in many ways.

Will always remember the Celtic fans at the memorial game - top class supporters.

That's what I thought, every proper football fan I know is fully supportive whenever it's discussed or I send them petitions and the like.

Just read the posts on there by 'debbie' - it was her and her mate who were photographed and had the pictures of them suffering splashed all over the papers that week.

Great thread that.

I'vealways been slightly ambivalent about 'Celtic' because of the b****xology that goes with it in Ireland but that is a wonderful thread and a credit to the supporters of the club.

I was at the game in Glasgow in 89 and i cried my eyes out when YNWA. was sung. I went to the match with a mate of mine who is both a Celtic and United fan. I looked over at him in the middle of YNWA and he was singing his heart out and crying just like me. Frequently when I read small minded idiots calling other football fan "scum" because they support a particular club on here I think back to that day.

Havent read about other fans dismissing the protest but a Rangers fan I know thought we should just "Drop it now" and "Move on".

Naturally, I told him I thought his view was a load of sch1te.

how can we move on when someone like Anne Williams is still fighting just to know the truth of the circumstances of his son's death? and when McKenzie unrepentently sprouting his trade in the media?

606 said they were inundated with messages of support from fans of other clubs, particularly Ispwich & Newcastle.

I hate the Geordie feckers but fair's fair.
