New York Red Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 It seems like Kuyt is the frontrunner right now. But, the more I think about it, the more I worry that there isn't much out there for us to go after. Bent? Defoe? They're OK I guess, but not quite good enough for us. Owen -- no thanks, plus he's crocked all the time. Torres? Is he really that good and would we ever pay what seems to be a huge asking price? Who the hell else can we go after? I have to be missing someone. Help me out please, I'm having a panic attack...
Guest JV Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Man Up(see what i did there?) Bellamy and Kuyt that will do. As mentioned not many around though.

Peresonally I think Bellamy is the most complete player of the three followed by Defoe.
Guest FrankH Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 To the people who want Kuyt to sign: how much of him have you seen? What would he bring to the team? Just wondering because I've seen nothing of him bar the odd goal highlight.
Bao Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 (edited) bar the odd goal highlight. That'll do for starters. Edited May 28, 2006 by Bao
wacko Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) Hmm cant have this. It has been strongly rumoured that all football clubs have a agreement, not to sell us any strikers.I understand that the Dutch and the French rejected the EU constitution due to the lack of exactly this agreement.Bellamy/Owen, maybe Torres would do me for the 'pacey goalscorer' role to replace Cisse. Defoe would be underwhelming. As for nando's replacement, I can only think of Kuyt. Not really any others who are not 'young pacey goalscorers' who have been named, is there?. Maybe a withdrawn forward in the Aimar mould to replace him. That still leaves us needing someone to actually score goals. Edited May 29, 2006 by wacko
RafaShanks Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 bruno's gonna be our second striker.. Frank Bruno?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 From speculation on prices touted for our targets then I think Bellamy offers the greatest price/quality ratio (otherwise known as value ) If we got him for £5mln then we should be able to pursue Kuyt
StevieC Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Kewell could be an option up front if it all goes to schit.
Guest ziggystardust Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) kuyt and bellamy would do me, a good mix of pace and strength although bellamy is injury prone Edited May 29, 2006 by ziggystardust
Frosty Jack Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Do remember that Garcia plays as a 2nd striker, he won't play RM much at all anymore I think, and with Gerrard often playing in that position last season, I doubt very much we would be after Aimar, It'll be 1 or 2 out and out strikers, Probably Kuyt/Defoe or both.
Guest sniffer Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Kewell could be an option up front if it all goes to schit. Kuyt's striking partner Kalou is currently in London signing for Chelski. Feyenoord are hardly likely to sell both their strikers are they? So you can all forget about Kuyt.
Guz Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Rushie and Aldo aren't upto much I don't think. Nor is Kenny although the last two performances from him have been absolute s***.

Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 That still leaves us needing someone to actually score goals. You don't think Owen/Bellamy/Torres would score goals? Don't think we need more than one out and out striker, tbh.
Knox_Harrington Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Weren't you saying Kuyt was nailed on for Chelsea a few weeks back?Yes he was.
Serko Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Kalou doesn't fulfill the work permit requirements so Chelsea are bribinghoping a special panel will agree he is a special talent. What are the odd he'll get a permit first time round?
McBain Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Based on the players linked so far it seems the options are either a quick player and a second striker. Or a quick player and another target man. But i'm not sure that's what will happen Rafa recently referred to Morientes as his link man, and that he asked him to do that job for the team, which would maybe suggest he wants another of that type, but someone who actually does it well I dont think it's likely that we'll start next with 4 out and out strikers. That seems too many. So it might be a third option. A player like Kuyt and then a playmaker such as Aimar.
Lee W Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I still think we'll get out-priced on Kuyt and Alves. Would love to be wrong obviously.
fyds Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Worried? I'm sh1tting sticks.I'd go easy on that high-fibre diet mate... I still think we'll get out-priced on Kuyt and Alves. Would love to be wrong obviously.I think you will be this year, Lee.
sean Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I'd go easy on that high-fibre diet mate...I think you will be this year, Lee. It's the worry of what strikers we're going to miss out on. Can't cope.
