I am not writing him off or anything. He's had bad spells before.

It's just that I think we'd be better if Chiesa starts right now. And given that starting every game hasn't done much I'd like to see what happens if he doesn't.

Yeah Chiesa came on and showed some composure and got the assist for the goal.
that chance Mo f***ed up just needed some composure. He snatched at it on his good foot and it was a bad miss. He did the same with the one at Chelsea on his right foot when he hit the outside of the post from yards out. Think a lot is down to him frustrated and trying to get out of this rut he is in… but he’s not seeing better options because of this like squaring it to Wirtz for a tap in which could have completely lifted Wirtz and got him going

He shouldn't be starting Saturday. Feel age has caught up with him finally. We looked much better today as a team, more fluid. Mo would make a great impact sub though.

Hard to say really. His numbers were great last year so it’d be unlikely to decline so much over a few months but I don’t think he should be starting anytime soon now. Everything about his games been off this season from being non existent, awful first touch, wayward shots and being greedy.

You’d imagine he’s probably frustrated with his own form but he isn’t doing himself any favours. Today exemplified it with the Wirtz chance, he knows Wirtz hasn’t had the best start and could have done his confidence the world of good even with a tap in, but chose himself instead of the team and went for personal glory. That’s the type of crap someone like Fergie would have sent someone to the reserves for - when a player starts to act that it’s more about them than the team. Slots got an opportunity to stamp some authority now.

That bit annoyed me. He's always had selfish moments and that's generally fine for a goalscorer but the whole performance was about getting himself on the score sheet and it was obviously to the detriment of the team performance.

I'd start Chiesa.

It's disgraceful Mo is receiving this sort of abuse online. I suspect it's mostly from fans who have jumped on the recent success bandwagon. Yes you can criticize him for his poor form but to attack him personally is way out of line.

This man has richly deserved legend status at the club. He's going to remembered alongside players such as Kenny, Rushie, Jockey and Gerrard. I feel though a spell coming off the bench will do him some good since it is not working for him being in the starting eleven either due to tactical constraints or poor form.

you'd have thought after nigh on 250 goals for us he'd be allowed this probable first ever little dip in form

and yeah - he should have squared that pass to Wirtz last night, like a good team player but he's always been a bit of selfish b*****d which is why he has nigh on 250 goals for us. So, one of them...

Well said. The last 3 seasons he's been creating chances more than most players in our team and in the league.

I'd like to think that if we weren't already 5-1 up he probably would have squared it.

I don't think it would have made any difference. He was pissed off. He wanted to score.
