Cheyrou, Le Tallace, Diao, Kirkland, Whitbread

Apparently Whitbread played well against Everton the other day, got in some papers' team of the day.

Whitbread is a tall guy - not difficult standing out against Everton when they have Ferguson on the pitch if you are a tall defender. It would have been an aerial bombardment the likes of which London hasn't seen since 1940...route 1, crazy gang style, direct long ball b******s - bread and butter stuff for a tall defender who has watched Sami for more than five minutes...

I can't see Bruno coming back. He hasn't convinced when he's been here, and doesn't seem to fit in. Wouldn't get a game in central midfield and he simply isn't a winger. Talented player though but he's better off back in France.

The same goes with Diao, Kirkland and Whitbread. Diao isn't close to the quality we want to see in central midfield. Don't think Kirkland wants to come back, and I certainly would pick Reina and Carson ahead of Kirky. Whitbread has done well at times when playing in the first team, but he hasn't really convinced has he? Think he lacks the needed agression and positioning. In Carra and Sami we got two of the best centrebacks around and with a new one hopefully coming now in Jan, I think it would be difficult to get games. I think he's better off at Millwall for the rest of the season. If he's improved a lot when coming back in the summer, he might have another go, but I can't see it.

Concerning Le Tallec, I'm not sure to be fair. It isn't difficult to see that he's good footballer, but he's got take his chance if he get another one. He hasn't lived up to his potential yet, but it is something with him which makes me think he still might have a chance. Think he's a player who would fit in well in Rafa's team and under his guidance. He is supposed to have improved concerning his attitude and he's doing well for the French U21 team, so there is some positive signs. Will be interesting to see if get another chance.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I think that both Cheyrou and Diao are in the last year of their contracts, which makes it even less likely we'll ever see them again.

Le Tallec is the only one who has a chance to make it here I think, but he'd need to have a major personality change.

I don't think any of them will play for the club again.

Couldn't really give a rats arris either. Apart from Le Tallec who has his moments, the others simply ain't very good.

A mate of mine's a Watford fan and was at Millwall last week. Said Whitebread was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. That isnt really saying very much though.

He's a decent enough and did well during the Cup run last year, but I doubt he's ever going to be good enough to get near our 1st XI. Shop window and decent fee.

Zak was truly shocking when he played in the league cup this year.

He was torn to shreds.

^ I think he's loan - but as it's the last season of his contract I don't think we'll see him again in a red shirt. Could well be the same for Diao too.

Should be interesting to see what happens with Le Tallec - wonder how long he has left on his contract, and if he'd even be interested in signing an extension? (could go somewhere else on a free transfer?)

Why haven't we just sold them?

Either because no-one will buy them (Diao, for example)

Or because Rafa is not yet certain or wants to put them in the shop window (Whitbread, Kirkland)

Here's the issue for me. Why haven't we just sold them? They have to be nosediving in value and they are just out on loan. It makes no sense at all to me.

Why haven't we sold them and if we did sell them, what would they net us?

maybe we didn't get any decent offers for them, and considering that they must be on high wages, its difficult for smaller teams in france or england to pay a fee + pay the wages

Whitbread always looked terribly suspect under the high ball,to me.He's tall, but he doesn't seem strong enough against the carthorses that Everton offer.
