He had scored seven goals in 201 outings for PSG, being made their youngest ever captain for a game in October 2007, aged just seventeen, taking on the role permanently for the 2011/12 season. He helped them to claim the League title in 2012/13, as well as the Coupe de France twice. Left-back Chris Mavinga signed from Paris Saint-Germain in July 2009, where he had yet to make his senior bow. He failed to make the first team, being sold to Stade Rennais for £1m in July 2011.
