Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Let's not dick about here eh? let's rest Suarez, Hendo & Phil. Maybe one more. But play a strong side - 7 or 8 of the usual starters. They're an ok side, a win is expected but a banana skin it certainly is. Let's not Oldham, Burnley etc it
Case Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Phil should play and rest up against Everton. Danny up front on his tod. Open them up like a south coast Newcastle.
Zoob Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Aspas, Alberto and Moses should all start, even if (Aspas+Moses) makes me feel a bit sick. Don't really want Sturridge to be playing Sunday+Tuesday so long after a lay off, and would like to see Suarez, Coutinho and Johnson rested too.
Case Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 fair point on Danny. Aspas, yes, perhaps, but no way should Moses play. JonesKelly-Toure-Sakho-CissokhoAllenHenderson-AlbertoSterling-Aspas-Coutinho Hendo as skipper. If this IS the team, I'll eat my own head.
Cheesecake Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 JonesKelly-Toure-Sakho-FlanaganAllenGerrard-AlbertoSterling-Aspas-Moses I think that team should have way too much for BFC. Flanno is due back on the 25th according to physio room, that line up allows us to rest Mig, Johnson, Skrtel, Henderson, Suarez, Sturridge who will all starrt vs Everton 3 days later and Coutinho needs a spell out of the team imo, he was pretty anonymous in the first half vs Villa.
Tommy Cockles Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Saturday 12.45 ko Tricksy little game for us I think. Sturridge to start, Luis on the bench for me. The Derby looms large. Sakho & Flanno potential returns, Johnson & Lucas out. I've finally managed to sort a ticket so looking forward to a few seaside beers. Anyway, thats it. My first match thread start. Yeah. Not exactly Rory is it?
Tommy Cockles Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Ha. And there was me thinking I'd started the thread! Fo'shame.
Earl Hafler Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Ha. And there was me thinking I'd started the thread! Fo'shame. A thread within a thread is a beautiful thing

Don't really want Sturridge to be playing Sunday+Tuesday so long after a lay off, and would like to see Suarez, Coutinho and Johnson rested too. How about Saturday and Tuesday?
Clay Davis Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Rossiter, Smith and Brannagan likely to be involved acc. to the Echo.
Widnesian Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Play the kids. The league is just too important to lose any more key players through injury.
smithdown Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Rossiter, Smith and Brannagan likely to be involved acc. to the Echo. If the other times we have done this are anything to go by then Suarez will go on anyway regardless.
Maldini Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Smith will start I'd say. He was supposed to start the last round but got a knock.
Leo No.8 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Really want to get to the latter stages of this. I think we'd be foolish to take them too lightly. I'd start Suarez and take him off after an hour (hopefully when he's done enough damage) he's a machine, and use Sturridge from the bench only if needed who is more prone to injuries. Alberto needs some match practice as its looking like he's going to be first choice the way transfers / injuries are going. Maybe play the young lad Smith at left back as he can't really be any worse than Cissokho, and I'd leave Mignolet in to try to build his confidence before the derby (as it stands he's going in nervy). I'd go for: -------------------------------Mignolet---------------------------------- Kelly-----------------Skrtel-------------Toure-----------------Smith --------------------Henderson--------Gerrard------------------------- ---------------------------------Alberto----------------------------------- ------Aspas-----------------------------------------------Moses------- ---------------------------------Suarez----------------------------------- All of Gerrard, Henderson and Suarez to come off (injuries and scoreline permitting) between 60-75 minutes. Use Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho if we're not clearly ahead, young lads mentioned above from the bench if we are.
Red Yoda Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 -----------------------Mignolet Flannagan----Toure----Sakho----Smith ------------Henderson-------Allen Moses---------------Alberto-----Coutinho ------------------------Aspas Subs : Jones , Kelly , Skrtel , Gerrard , Rossiter , Suarez , Sturridge
cymrococh Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Jones has confirmed he's playing hasn't he?

Knox_Harrington Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I'd love us to win the FA CupWin the FA Cup or beat Everton 12-0 on Tuesday. Which would you rather have?
fred Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 The Ev. Every time. Mind you, 11-0 and I'd have to think about it.
smithdown Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Win the FA Cup or beat Everton 12-0 on Tuesday. Which would you rather have? Ha! This is like Moyes the other year, lose three nil in the derby but beat the RS in the semi. Edited January 24, 2014 by smithdown

I'd go - based on likelihood not what I'd choose: JonesFlanno, Skrtl, Toure, AlyAllen, Moses, Sterling, AlbertoAspas, Sturridge not nec in a 442 Bench - who's fit?
