Are there really no excuses?

With no cup games till January, are there really no excuses as to how we perform in games now?

The biggest problem I can see is fitness, quite clearly we looked fooked after 60 minutes and that will be a major downfall if we don't address it soon. I said after the first 3 games I would hope that the amount of games we would simply not turn up in would reduce. Southampton was one we didn't turn up in which pissed me off big time, yesterday was a combination of tiredness and running out of ideas.

Is it unfair to expect perfection from now until January? Can we go on another unbeaten run?

yesterday wasnt anything but a defensive lapse. Thats not tiredness or running out of ideas. It was a bad bit of defending. other than that we were fine, not brilliant but fine, and created enough chances.

We were much better yesterday than the 2nd half against Swansea or in the game against Southampton, so i'm taking that as a sign that we will perform well at Sunderland.

There were quite a few players out there who looked dead on their feet in the last 15-20 minutes. Yes, we were better in the second half than the last 2 games. You would think that only having one thing to think about all week will help the team, but, until the manager sorts out a settled team and a defined set of tactics, I reckon we'll be in for a roller coaster ride of a season.

Fitness is not going to be a problem now that the lads will be drinking Gatorade.

I see others mentioned it too but Gatorade is just so awesome it can't be said enough. We're going to have the same first eleven on the pitch every game this season.

It'll be alright, the lads will be hydrating themselves with Gatorade from now on which is mostly water but has some sugar and a nice color too. I am now off to buy a bottle of Gatorade.

I prefer Powerade Zero for my personal rehydration, that water stuff is so tasteless it must be bad for you.

Maybe Brendan should go with the Dietmar Hamman game day regime, have them smoke a few ciggies and wash them down with a couple of pints.

Bulls*** to this.

The last 4 goals we've conceded have been defensive lapses - Mancs, Southampton & Swansea (2) - didn't see Notts C.

We didn't exactly make DeGea perform miracles.

For all of the we played well, we didn't play well enough.

To be fair, we did force him to make a few decent saves, but yes, overall we did not play well enough over the 90 minutes to get a win.

Also, the 2 goals by Notts County were deffo from defensive lapses.

to be honest, most goals teams concede are from defensive lapses somewhere. you arent going to eradicate them. but of the 6 games we've played against top flight sides this season, we have only scored more than 1 in one game. thatt where the problem is. Also, not having scored in the second half of a single game is staggeringly bad. i dont know whether or not gatorade can solve these problems

Gatorade you say? That's certainly a liquid-based sports fuel.

Agree. We're not creating anything like the chances we were last season. Hopefully it's a combination of Suarez & Coutinho being out, Sturridge being unfit and Moses still finding his feet. You've got to think the goals will start to flow sooner rather than later especially with Suarez back.

That's a discussion that's been had elsewhere and I largely agree, but most of the goals we've conceded have been schoolboy.

6 games this season vs teams in our division - 5 goals scored, 4 conceded, 189 mins since we last scored
