Interesting. They've both got ridiculously good reviews as far as I can see.

The same mate who has the Sonos Arc has the previous version of that. It's class. I bought one that size last time and regretted it, wish I'd gone bigger.

Think I'm going to go for a QLED as it's for our sun room and they're supposed to handle bright rooms better.

I'd happily go to 55inches but my wife thinks it would look monstrous in our living room.

Re the discount - its been available for a while, if you have any "legacy" products you can use them to get up to a 30% discount voucher added to your Sonos account, the voucher doesn't expire.

It's only about 6 inches wider, it'd be grand

Yeah but it’ll only fit on the wall then, and we won’t get that done until the new year. A 55 is too big for the cabinet we have no.

48 is grand for me tbh. Get a nice soundbar, some popcorn. Pretend I’m in a really small cinema.

Have you got a solid wall to mount a stand into? I'd be really wary of mounting a modern sized TV into stud partitions with the weight load on them.

Not sure tbh. Wouldn't even attempt it myself. Was going to get specialists to do it. Presume they come out and make sure it can be done first.

They're pretty easy to put up TBF - as long as you have the right kit. Tidy drill (SDS drill if you're going into a solid wall), socket set & spirit level is pretty much all you need. I put up two of these last year and they've not shifted - but I was drilling into stone walls which gave me confidence that they wouldn't move once up given that the anchor bolts were about 9" long. I'd be really wary with a stud wall but like you said, if you get a proper firm in then they'll be able to advise better

Works really well in the lounge 'cos I can recess it back into the alcove when there's just us watching or bring it out when we've got more people in there that want to watch. Pic...

People watching telly in the lounge of a b+b has massive 70s vibes.

I remember my first holiday in Ibiza we used to go to the hotel reception to watch Star Trek TNG every afternoon.

:)

There's tellys in the bedrooms as well - but (in normal times) we do a lot with groups hiring the whole place, so you need a nice big area that everyone can socialise in. Half the time it's Mountain Bikers watching their own GoPro footage 🤦‍♂️

I continued my phasing out of Sonos by adding the Bluesound Flex speaker to the Bluesound Node I already had. Still think they are over priced but much more functional than the Sonos 3 it replaced. Shortcut buttons on the unit you can programme to stations and full Bluetooth. Not as bassy as the Sonos kit but better sound otherwise.

I've still got my four Sonos 1s dotted around the house for listening to (usually) iTunes or R6Music but I was given a Boom3 bluetooth speaker for Christmas and it is tremendous. I spend most of most days with it on whilst I'm working at my desk and can't wait to take it outside when the weather is warmer & drier.

I've got the small Wonderboom and it's fantastic, noticeably better sound quality than the Sonos 1 for a third of the price.

Yeah I've got one of those small Ultimate Ears Wonderboom speakers on my desk - great sound for such a small speaker and they're water resistant and really tough

They look gorgeous too. And they're showerproof. Not that I'd take it in the shower but, ya know.

Yeah I often put it on the shelf in the shower to listen to music while showering - works fine even when it gets wet.

Apparently you can put them in the bath and they actually float (and work fine) - that's a step too far for me tho

Ok

So have had a small windfall and have some licence to upgrade our home music experience.

We have an old sonos Play1 and I have a cheap turntable for some vinyl

So what I want.. and have no idea if this is possible

Buy something that can

  • Must have
    • Play CD's
    • Stream to speakers in other rooms
  • Should have
    • Burn and store CDs
    • Allow remote access via app to play stored CD's to said speaker
  • Could have
    • Purchase turntable that could play via said speakers

Thojughts / sugggestions etc.. Have done absolutely no research on this whatsoever

Anyone have any issues with 6 Music on Sonos?

I have a sonos one, with Alexa, and it’s great but 6 music just constantly cuts out. Thought it was my wifi but other radio channels don’t do it and never seems to happen if I’m listening to stuff off Spotify on the sonos.

ive asked Alexa to put on 6 music both via tunein and the BBC sounds app, but the cutting out still happens.
