I remember watching this live, am pretty sure it was on ITV. I couldn't get my head around it, they absolutely battered us. I think it was in searing heat, and I remember we looked like we'd been on the piss the night before (although I didn't know what that looked like when I was 8, I do now). We never took this competition seriously. Ever. For the South Americans this tournament was like the World Cup. So not a surprise we got tonked.

I remember watching some of it, can't remember if it was highlights on Saint And Greavsie or what, but even back then i can remember thinking " the picture is very fuzzy " and " we look very slow "

we took it seriously in 05/06, son't know how we lost the final though

 

I only saw the end of Zico's career, but he was one of my favourites , great to see him as the manager of Iraq now and doing well so far

I'd be surprised if they were even aware of the jetlag during preparation, wonder how long prior they flew out.

I went to the game and my longest memory is being sleep deprived for the 3 days we were there and being hospitalized when we got home due to dehydration, exhaustion and some nasty stomach virus. One of the stupidest trips of my life. Spent a fortune and came back with food poisoning.

 

We were awful in the game as I recall and the few Liverpool fans at the game were mostly drunk or asleep.

 

There were thousands of Flamengo fans making tons of noise all the time.

It wasn't live but they showed it 'as live' about midday on the Sunday a few hours after it had actually finished. I remember it was BITTERLY cold here with a cruel frost on the ground a a nasty wind.

I think they used to phone in the commentary, down a phone line, hence the terrible sound quality.
