Anyone think that he can improve under Kenny and Clarke this season? I was happy to see us sign him. He was brilliant at Seville but rejected us when Rafa was ready to buy out his contract for 7 million euros a few years back. He's not that old to be relatively weaker physically, whats wrong with him?

He could head the ball really well a few years ago but seems to have lost that as well. He should be a good fourth choice midfielder at worst but Jay looks like a better player even.

No, not for me. Kenny's teams so far have shown that not only the ball moves around but the players too - I just dont think he has the legs to be on the go in a way that we need.

He's f***ing appalling. I thought he was dodgy in his 5mins or so at Chelsea with two stupid late tackles but amazingly the Chelsea players actually stayed on their feet.

Its not really his fault, he just cant move. He either cant get involved in the play because he cant keep up with it or somehow gets involved and people just walk past him. He's awful. Hopefully he's gone in the summer as I absolutely hate seeing him in the team.

over the hill. Kenny has to include him because we are short of senior central midfielders.

He'll be replaced in the summer and quietly moved on.

He's a decent pro, despite everyone being hostile, he's quietly tried to get on with his job. At least thats to his credit and we should lay off him.

Probably agree on both counts.

But now that Shelvey is out for most of the season, we might be seeing a lot more of him and need him to improve. Its weird how he looks so bad.

I think your spot on here and hopefully in training he can pass on some of his experience.

Doesn't mean I want to see too much of him on the pitch mind.

he's over the hill AND suffering from low confidence. It's one thing that his legs are gone, but his passing now is much worse than it used to be.

I think he can improve, not sure how much though. He was decent in our league game against the mancs, was decent yesterday. If he could tidy up his passing, learn to adjust his game to compensate better for his utter lack of pace I suppose he could grow into ok-ish 4th choice.

Just think it was the wrong move for him tbh. He shouldn't be moving to a faster paced league at a time when his own pace and stamina is going down.

93% completion (of 81 passes) for Denmark according to opta. Can't comment personally as didn't see the game but stats suggest he may be better for Denmark than us, or getting some form back (hopefully)

Its sad in a way. Seeing someone who obviously used to be a decent player fail so spectacularly isn't pretty.

Its even less pretty when he's playing centre midfield for your club.

He's lost his legs. There's no coming back from that.

£4.5m well spent.

£10m on Konchesky, Jones and Poulsen. f*** off Hodglow.

Perhaps but he had a lot more time on the ball, and didn't have to move as the England forwards didn't figure out they could run around him ;)

Kenny is seeing when he can use him, perhaps in the last five minutes of games like the other day. If he had no time for him at all he'd have gone the way of others and wouldn't see the bench.

Went to Dave's yesterday and we rewatched the chelsea game, when he came on Martyn Tyler said "On comes poulsen who puts out fires in midfield"

he causes half of the f*****s

I was just about to say he did ok for Denmark, always wanting the ball, moving it along, always finding space. Spent a lot of time covering right back as well. I thought he was quietly effective for Denmark.

At least he put in a few cynical fouls for Denmark (put Johnson on his a*** a few times).

He doesn't even rattle into any tackles for us.

From the offal -

"After the new manager came in I had a short meeting with him," said Poulsen. "I asked whether I was staying.

"He said he wanted to use all the players and if I performed in training he would use me.

"He has shown he is ready to use all the players, so if I do what he asks, hopefully I will play more often."

Poulsen has been delighted by the impact Dalglish has made during his seven matches in charge.

He admits he has been amazed by the esteem in which the Reds boss is held by the Liverpool supporters and feels it has helped the team to play with more freedom.

"I didn't know what to expect," added Poulsen. "It was a fresh start for everybody.

"But the support the manager gets is unbelievable. It is amazing to see how the fans support him and that, in turn, has taken a bit of pressure off the team."

"Liverpool has such a big history," he added.

"They really want to win something and be where they deserve to be - the top of the league.

"At a club like that it is normal that even if you draw a game it feels like a defeat.

"Liverpool has such a big history and I hope, given some time, they can come back to the top."

Puts out fires?

He can't tackle, he can't run (only shoot), his passing is crap.

We may as well play with 10

Juventus must have been laughing their asses off when we paid £4.5m for him. They're probably still laughing considering they got Aquilani as well.

Rafa tried to buy his contract out? Are you sure? I know SSN had their sources talking a move up but Rafa soon denied it.

I heard it on another forum posted by this fella who worked for the club and was usually spot on with his info. Got Crouch, Morientes, Momo right before it came out in the other places. Guillem Balague also mentioned Rafa told him about Poulsen after the move broke down in one of the interviews. This was the year we signed Crouch, i think. Not sure.
