I would sell or loan out N'Gog on the basis of Pacheco's ability.

Even if we sign another first team striker (which is imperative) there will be room for a young player to have the odd cameo, play in the Carling and be an option on the bench.

I feel Pacheco has more potential to be a really top player than N'Gog so would have him in that role.

I can't see Pacheco playing up front on his own like N'gog does for us. He's so small and I think he'd completely disappear up front. I would keep both of them as I don't see them fighting for the same place in the team.

Pacheco seemed to excel in the role yesterday where he started off on the left, but then drifted all over the place. I think it was Maldini in another thread who said that the role was reminiscent of the one Iniesta plays for the first team.

I have no idea if Hodgson is a fan of that kind of "free role", but it definitely seemed to suit Pacheco.

Looked a bit like what Villa was playing when Torres was in the side. Starting left but coming in.

This is the thing though, unless he does some serious time in the gym then N'Gog should never play up front either because he's too skinny and weak in his upper body to hold it up effectively. It was an absolute travesty that he ended up doing it so often last season, physically he's not up to it even if technically he is.

If N'Gog is playing up front on his own in the coming season then things have gone horribly wrong; he's looked far better when he's come off the bench to partner a senior forward for 20 minutes or so and I'd rather the more gifted Pacheco do that. I think only one of them has the ability to be a really top player for the club.

He should be given some minutes on the pitch this season. We need to know whether he's genuinely good enough for the first team.

for sure

or, if we want to keep it simple we can play Ngog and Pacheco together up front with the simple instruction (and accompanying DVD box set) of "you! - play like Rush, you! - play like Kenny"

I thought that was decided after his first touch last season

They always seemed to have a really good understanding together when playing in the ressies. Pacheco should get some real game time this year i think - and probably will.

N'gog would work well along side Torres I think. He has an uncanny knack of being in the right place for rebounds, and sets up a fair number of chances as well

Yes I do think he has potential (mostly coming off the bench) in a 4-4-2, but his shoulders are the same width as his head; he doesn't have the body mass to play on his own and hold off someone like Vidic.

Technically he's good, the lad can finish, has some pace and works hard. The physique is what's holding him back in a massive way - give him some shoulders and he'd be a real prospect.

Pacheco. Kelly and possibly Ayala are the only ones who I feel can make it at our required level. Pacheco for sure.

add Shelvey, Amoo, Dalla Valle and 'new Hansen' Wilson and we have an outstanding group of young players coming through. The best I can remember, far and away better than the youth cup winning sides.

What needs to happen is to get them involved as much as possible. The UEFA cup is the ideal stage for that.

Quotes from him on the UEFA website.

A product of FC Barcelona's youth system, Pacheco made seven appearances for Liverpool last season after debuting during a UEFA Champions League group stage defeat by ACF Fiorentina. Admitting that his future at the Anfield club is unclear, the 19-year-old stated his brace against Portugal helped to lift his spirits. "I really needed those goals as my morale was a bit low because of the uncertainty over my future," he said. "Also, it's a real source of happiness that those goals helped my team reach the last four of this tournament."
