I really don't know what to expect from this lad.

When we were first linked I heard everything from "the next Steven Gerrard" to "can't even hold down a regular place at Charlton".

From the interview he seems confident that he'll be playing quite a bit but Is he expected to come straight in and fight for a first team place or is he looking at a season or two in the reserves?

"At Charlton training was just shooting and five-a-sides and I was getting home at 1pm..."

Fantastic coaching staff at Charlton.

At least they train with a ball...

"...At Liverpool we're not getting home till 2pm or 3pm."

It's the extra hour of shooting that'll turn him into the next Steven Gerrard!

he said he wants 20 games

be amazed if he gets that aged 18 in his first season

I agree mate but he's clearly not here to make the numbers up so lets hope he's good enough to get his wish. Means we have landed a potential star if he does.

No, no, it's clay pigeon shooting. They are unorthodox down in The Valley. But they get results.

Clay pigeon shooting and a five aside tug of war

And home by 1, sounds like a great job

"I can defend, although I'd rather be bombing on to score goals and create things. I used to play in the hole behind the striker at Charlton but I prefer to play in central midfield to dictate the play."

"He needs to me in the middle, Richard. I can't understand why The Hodge plays him on the right"

nothing wrong with a bit of self-confidence.

although perhaps he's been told who will actually be left at the club by the start of the season.

He was taken out of the team so the move wouldn't collapse, that money is the only thing that stopped them going bust. He's very very good.

He's talking about playing in the PL every week and at least 20 games. Does he honestly believe that? Sure he could actually do it, but either he'd have to be at a siimilar level Gerrard was at his age, or we're gonna need to have a major injury crisis.

would you rather him saying that he is looking forward to playing a whole season for the reserves?

Obviously not good enough to be away with the England U19s.....

yeah, in the same way as Rodwell and Wilshire are obviously not good enough to be away with them

Wow, England must have a new, even more shiny golden generation coming through

My point is their clubs didn't let them go, I imagine that's what happened with us as well, the FA don't enforce the call up rules like other countries for some reason.

seems slightly pointless having under 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 sides. whole organisation of it seems to be mess. pacheco, a player yet to feature in more than a handful of senior games, missed about half of last season on f***ing international duty when there were genuine opportunities for him here.

If he is indeed the next <insert great player's name> then at that age, he should be playing that many matches in the league.
