Pepe is incredibly under rated, he's as good as anyone out there but you'd never think it judging by press opinion.

VDS probably should have done better with the first, although Eto'o was pretty close to goal and the keeper was kind of wrong footed. I'd put it down as one he could have done better with but not an error as such.

Anderson and Vidic were both more culpable IMO.

Anderson was most guilty IMO, just watched Iniesta glide past him and made no attempt at a tackle.

He looks more like Stevie Wonder every day, perhaps he's modelling his game on him.

Because he had Gerrard in his pocket at anfield last season and we aren't allowed to question any of Ferguson signings

Tim Vickery was lauding him the other day on his BBC blog

However, it seems that Utd are playing him out of position, previously he was an attacking midfielder rather than a central midfielder.

Of course Fergie is allowed to play people out of position e.g. Rooney at LM is a masterstroke whilst Kuyt at RM was 10m to address the wrong issue etc. etc.

I remember Vickery saying that anderson was important to brazil because they haven't had a midfield destroyer like him for a long time

i can't belive that he is any good as an attacking midfielder as he is too slow, too fat, can't finish and has no trickery

a poor man's Lucas in fact

He should be playing further up the pitch though. He certainly doesnt have the attributes to play in central midfield.

couldn't hit a barn door though...

Stick him on the bench with his useless mate Nani.

He's not slow but he can't shoot at all so how's he an attacking midfielder?

He really is useless at everything :) Think it was Wigan they was losing too when he started too and I texted my mate at half time, soon as Anderson comes off they'll score two, they did.

from the f***ing Times - an analysis of the Manc players

Van der Sar has been a fantastic servant to United since his £2.5million move from Fulham in June 2005, but for all the records he has broken this season, the sands of time appear to be catching up with the Dutchman, who will be 39 in October and in his last season with the club.

He rarely makes clangers but when was the last time he made a truly world class save, the kind which United goalkeepers – redundant for long periods of games – are expected to make?

Although he made one or two good stops against Barcelona, he rarely saves United these days when it matters most, notably when he was beaten at his near post by Samuel Eto’o in the 10th minute. Would Van der Sar in his pomp, or Peter Schmeichel, or a Shay Given or Petr Cech have saved that, for example? There is every possibility.
