Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Only watched the game last night. The crowd sounded top - party atmosphere from the off, loud & full of it. Obviously an early goal helped as did Chelsea and the Mancs f***ing up the day before. The "Handball" shouts at everything around 75 had me pissing myself

Eiler99 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Speaking of ironic shouts, there was a good rendition of "Rafa's cracking up" just before the second penalty.
psl Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 The Liverpool fans chanting "Champions League, you're having a laugh" as Stevie climbed the podium in Istanbul was superb. Hopefully "Rafa's cracking up" can ring around Anfield as the manager lifts the Premier League trophy.
smithdown Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 The Liverpool fans chanting "Champions League, you're having a laugh" as Stevie climbed the podium in Istanbul was superb. Was thinking about that just the other day, Cisse dancing round the trophy and then that song went up, everything fit perfectly, then a build up to a massive toar as Gerrard approaches the cup and throws the lips on it
johngibo YPC Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I don't like the ironic handball shouts, it reminds me of Old Trafford. It's been done to death. Cant believe the attention its getting from the Villa game. People keep telling me how 'hilarious' the Villa fans were. They must be the 5th or 6th team to do it at Anfield this season. And we were doing it at Old Trafford First 15 minutes the atmosphere was brilliant

I hate anyone getting beat 3-0 and starts singing 4-3, we're gonna win 4-3

Walrus Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Think our fans were calling for a penalty after an apparent handball in their box. After that the "witty" Villa fans started their hilarious shouts.
Jarg Armani Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I hate that handball thing. Chelsea were the first to do it at anfield. it was almost funny then and it certainly isn't any funnier 2 years on.
WillG Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 How was the minute's silence? It sounded impeccable on the telly.
suzyv Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I was in th Kiop block 208 row 47 were I always sit on sunday it was great for the first 15mins then it slowly began reverting to type with everyone getting nervous making them sounds that we make when a mistake is made. This changed when the second goal went in we seemed to relax. Then the last 15mins or so were weird because we were singing but not as you would ecpext us to sing 5 0 up. It is hard to explain I just think we were in shock and were happy to watch the football. And before anybody ask I sing everysong that is sung in the kop even if nobody around me is.
DJS Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 yep, they were c****. I hate anyone getting beat 3-0 and starts singing 4-3, we're gonna win 4-3 I dont mind that so much. What i find pathetic is when fans (and it's never a big club's fans that do this, because they have on-field stuff to sing about) know they're getting stuffed and resort to trying to belittle our support. Big clubs tend to sing about football, because they have stuff to celebrate. Fans of s**** clubs have nothing football-based to sing about, so it's the usual "Your support is f***ing sh*te" and "3-0 and you still dont sing", along with the 'hilarious' ironic applause when the home fans are singing.

The worse thing is when they pretend they're having a great time even though losing heavily. Havant and Waterlooville, that's fine, Luton, that's fine, but Villa? they would have gone 4th if they'd won and their fans are pretending they're not arsed by trying to conga down the front of anny road. You support a fcking premier league club, act like it... you nasally t***s.

When they lost they seem not arsed, despite being about 2pts off the drop zone. Enjoy Anfield chaps, might be your last time for a while.
DJS Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Totally agree with the last two posts. It's small time nonsense and Villa like to think they're a big club.

smithdown Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 It was the absence of any song of their own that got me. They're a relatively big club, they have big enough numbers, they have won things in the past worth crowing about, have had some decent players, come from a big city etc - yet they haven't come up with a single song that's not a dull chant that's not heard in the third division or doesn't come from a sky sports manual.
beejay Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 yet they haven't come up with a single song that's not a dull chant maybe its just their accent
Logic Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I was over for my first trip to Anfield for the Villa game. Amazing experience. But one thing that kind off pissed me off. The tourists (OOT, OOC, basically people like me) seemed to be grouped together. Wouldn't it be better to spread them out to make sure there aren't silent "pockets" of fans here and there in the stadium? And is it common to put the tourists (yes, I call myself a tourist when coming over there.... ) next to the away fans? Found it a bit weird being sat next to the Villa fans (Main Stand, MX block 3rd row). Is it done to keep things more calm or is it simply because they aren't very good seats? Not that I'm complaining. Still haven't got my voice back and still can't stop thinking about the trip. Just a bit disappointed about being sat next to so many who didn't know the most common songs and to be able to truly take part in creating the atmosphere.
Logic Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Your first trip was a 5-0 win? Jammy get. Couldn't believe my luck! Although I have to say.... I only saw three of the goals. I never watch the penalties. Stopped watching them the 25th of May 2005. Won't start watching them again any time soon! But again... not that I'm complaining!
Sion Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) Row 3 MX isn't that bad a seat really unless you had the big pole by that corner right infront of you, far worse spots they could have put you in. Like anywhere near the back of either the main stand or anny road, or anywhere in the upper cent. Edited March 25, 2009 by Sion
