floyd the barber Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 has had a good season so far....nothing gets past Arby..anoter top performance from him today. He also has improved when he gets forward and has become a good option.......reminds me a bit of Markus Babbel.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 reminds me a bit of Markus Babbel. overstating it somewhat, IMO
floyd the barber Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 overstating it somewhat, IMO well hes tall...similar hair and likes to celebrate when we score.......whats the problem
Guest Snorky Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I'm becoming a fan of the Arbeloa jump
floyd the barber Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 I'm becoming a fan of the Arbeloa jump gotta love that!!!! whenever we score, he always bombs it from wherever he is to do the "arby jump".. Im always like "wait for it..wait for it...........and BOOMMMMM" Cant wait for the moment when he scores........

Bo Benn Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I have got to admit, always played striker myself and I think therefore always found it hard to judge defensive players. But I never saw the lack in Arbeloa's defensive play as some has suggested. I think he is very solid and always was from day one when he was brought on against Barca. Doesn't always get in right when attacking but not a whole lot worse than many other fullbacks out there. In the end there isn't many right backs in the world that I would trade for Alvaro.
Bo Benn Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 erm.....he already has.....at Reading. Interestingly enough, if I remember things correctly, he celebrated that goal very moderately.
Guest RedLegend Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 In the end there isn't many right backs in the world that I would trade for Alvaro. That might be going a bit overboard in fairness.
lfc4eva99 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Interestingly enough, if I remember things correctly, he celebrated that goal very moderately. must have been surprised more than anything, remember seeing this archive video about the St. Etienne game and Fairclough saying that after he scored he didnt know what to do, just jumped with his hands up
Swagger Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Agreed - he's been having a good season so far. Arbeloa has been a very good buy by Rafa - his signing came out of the blue after Lucas Neill followed the money to West Ham. I know which I'd prefer. Not bad for 2.5m.
Guest PaulMcC Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Good player. Nowhere near as the mighty Markus Babbel just yet,
floyd the barber Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 erm.....he already has.....at Reading. ahhh indeed,, forgot about that, maybe `cos he didnt celebrate in the proper arby way,it felt like some imposter
Benitez Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Good player. Nowhere near as the mighty Markus Babbel just yet, and not many will ever be! It's always unfair (and a bit foolish ) to throw in such comparisons, as it can turn the focus of what is a constructive post! Cos Arbeloa is indeed showing good form for us and deserves that noted. Arby is playing very well, long may it continue!
Ste M Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I like him but that jump is annoying. Far too much like Jar Jar f*cking Ferdinand.
Chili Palmer Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I don't want him to score again, he'll break his neck jumping that high with no one to land on...
anny road Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I was singing his name in the Albert after So was i
Will Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) Not our greatest, but certainly my favourite player Edited September 28, 2008 by Will
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 not our greatest, true - but don't think we've broken stride having moved Finnan on. Certainly not missing Finnan's goal threat....Arbeloa has been steady
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Has a couple of dodgy games, but he likes to pass it out from the back, and usually successfully, which is always good. He and Dossena are no Bosingwa and Cole but they do get forward more often than our full-backs have in recent seasons.
D.Boon Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 He has had an excellent start to the season.
Jarg Armani Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 agreed. did everything right yesterday, including snapping cahill.
Gunga Din Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I'm still far from convinced that he is a long termm solution. he has had 3 very good games in a row, but he still has far too many poor ones.
Hassony Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I'm still far from convinced that he is a long termm solution. he has had 3 very good games in a row, but he still has far too many poor ones. 5 games united, Marsellie, Villa, Stock and Everton
