Liverpool - 'Champions' League Qualifier

With the Premier League about a month away - it's time to be thinking of the 'Champions' League Qualifying fixtures.

Anyone know what date these are to be played on? More importantly - has anyone with a season ticket actually received it through the post yet?!

Secondly: What is the way to approach these qualifiers? Is it best to put the full squad out and pound the opposition into the floor - or is the best approach to blood a few youngsters in their first competitive matches (With the club stalwarts on the bench ready to leap into the fray should things go not quite as expected?)

Which clubs are we likely to face and are there any dark horses - or indeed pretty decent clubs out there ready to get their claws into us?

How much of a toll is it going to be on our players to start competitive games so early - and could this have a bearing on future games? It's clear that we need to hit the ground running and start to pound and destroy the 'lesser' teams in the league if we have any hope of progressing into a good title run - but more importantly we need to dodgy injury and then keep that run going.

Atletico Madrid are the ones to avoid I think and it is absolutely vital to get through to the competition proper. An embarassing exit would hang around the club like a bad fart all year.
More like a s*** in the wardrobe

Is that the list of who we can draw? I'd be happy with any of them bar Atletico and possibly Galatasaray. Twente Enschende is Mclarens new team isn't it?

Because we are seeded do we play the second leg at Anfield ? or is it just coincidence we've done that over the past few seasons ?

Some of those teams are playing in the second qualifier round, and if they are knocked out, the team that knocks them out will take their place. But we can't draw any of the teams that are seeded in the 3rd qualifying round, like Rangers, Juventus etc.

Rome's Stadio Olimpico will stage the European Champion Clubs' Cup final for the fourth time this season as the UEFA Champions League reaches its climax in the Italian capital on Wednesday 27 May.

Rome events

The home of 2008/09 group stage entrants AS Roma and their Serie A rivals S.S. Lazio, the stadium could prove a lucky omen for Liverpool FC, who won the 1977 final there against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach and repeated the trick seven years later against Roma. That match went to penalties, as did the 1996 UEFA Champions League decider in which Juventus defeated holders AFC Ajax. Other major events at the stadium include the 1990 FIFA World Cup final, the 1987 IAAF World Championships in Athletics and the 1960 Olympic Games, for which the stadium was constructed in 1953, set between the Tiber river and Monte Mario hill.

Finals

It will be the eighth European Cup final to be held in Italy, as Milan's San Siro Stadium was the venue for 1965, 1970 and 2001 finals while in 1991 FK Crvena Zvezda defeated Olympique de Marseille at Bari's Stadio San Nicola. The 2010 final will be played at Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu in its new date on a Saturday.

Rome to stage the final?

Isn't it good to see that UEFA have chosen a venue with a good reputation for policing rival fands and no history of problems between locals and visiting supporters?

absolutely. a city known for its open arms and cultural maturity which has just voted in its first neo-liberal mayor.

nothing to do with platini having a big f***off apartment and several mistresses there or anything.

CL final moving to Saturday? I didnt read anything about this. I assume this would clash with the usual FA Cup final Saturday? Obviously the FA will have to surrender on this one.
