don't think this will weaken Arsenal necessarily. They will need to address the fact that they need to improve the general standard of the team and that very promising youngsters aren't the same as very good players. Even when injured, he's been a crutch for them in this regard, dressing up the shortcomings of the team.

Wenger will need to be as astute as ever in the transfer market this season, me thinks.

I can't really understand how Henry - possibly the best player in the world, still only 29, having just signed a four year ontract and with other interested teams like AC Milan in the background - can be sold for £16 million, while Bent is worth £17 million. That's an almost Liverpool-esque bit of business.

16mil is too much for a 30 year old, who played only a few games last season.

Tell me your joking, £16 million for someone of his quality is a brilliant deal, what he brings to the team regardless of age is worth that, I would have loved it if Liverpool had paid that for him, in a very over priced transfer market he would have taken us onto the title

It's Thierry henry FFS.

At that price, it's a steal for any team

The move to shift Dein looks like unravelling Arsenal's short term future at least. I think its amazing to be honest.

He is shifted out, Arsene Wenger wont commit to another contract, Henry moves on given the shift of the other 3.

Who will be the focal point of Arsenal next season if Wenger goes.

Summer 2005 - Captain Vieira is sold

Summer 2007 - Henry leaves

Summer 2008 - Wenger to leave ??

They really were icons at Arsenal, ok selling those two players for 30m at 30yrs of age is great business but if your manager then decides to leave ???

Are Arsenal fans confident that the money will be reinvested in the team or do they think it will be used to prepay their debt on the stadium ??

If they slip out of the top 4 this season and Wenger leaves at the end of the season it could be the start of a very difficult time for Arsenal !

what a joy to watch he has been over the years. he'll be missed.

One of the players it was great to watch 36 games of the season, whilst you spent the other 2 hoping he'd twist his ankle in the warm up.

This is our loss. The Pl has lost two of its best ever strikers in the last 12 months. Dont get me wrong, Henry is a better striker than RVN. In fact its three counting Shearer.

A 33 year old who missed all of the previious season won the league for the mancs this year. I'd have personally chauffered him up to Parry's office if he'd wanted to sign for us.

C. Ronaldo is never 33

arrogance and ego's of Henry, Eto, Ronaldinho (and that's just the front line) will be the downfall of Barca next season..

cos they had such a great season this year ;)

If they get a good coach in to replace the spitter, they'll be just fine! They won't need a defence with all those attacking options, which is probably just as well, cos they have a couple weak links in there!

Great player that will be missed in the prem.

One would thing that the longer term effect on Arsenal will be negative. Surely the writing is on the wall for Wenger and then what happens to all the younger players there when he leaves.

Also, I think that Henry has really shown his true colours. They guy spends a year refuting the rumors only to leave in the end.

How do you sign a 4 year contract at a club and commit to the club and then decide a year later to leave because maybe the manager might leave in 12 months. If he were a liverpool player I would not be happy with him.

Agree he`ll be missed, but disagree about his motives.

He`s 29 and gets offered the chance to finish his career at one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a real pedigree and a possible, final opportunity to win the CL, which a player of his magnitude deserves.

I think that he`s realised its the right time to go, as Arsenal have been also-rans for too long in the CL, with things looking like they won`t change for maybe a couple of seasons, by which time; of course; events may have passed him by.

I say good luck to him and cheers for gracing the Premier League.

But now he`ll have to find out what VA VA VOOM means in Spanish or Catalan.

Some cracking goals in here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wRSLeTRotY

That is a a top 50 to rank with any footballer ever. I hope he goes to Barcelona and blows away Messi and Ronaldinho, I've always liked Henry and this move his perfect for him having made himself an Idol at Highbury.

The time he blew away Carra and Henchoz? always makes me laugh, thank f*** he has gone!

And quite possibly Fowler.

Good riddance to Henry though, I grew tired of his annual summer "Will I, won't I?" charade years back.
