He was a sub for the semi-final second leg. And he started today against Fulham and against Portsmouth when other, major players were rested. Has he been demoted after Mascherano's good performance in midfield?

Looks like it. Seemed to be trying a bit too hard today - he started off well, but then got sloppy as he tried to get more and more into the game. Said a few months back that I thought he might be off. It'll be either him or Momo or even both go in the summer, in my eyes.

None of our CM's will be leaving. ;)

Horses for courses. Rafa thought Mascherano would be better for the Chelsea game than Alonso - nothing more nothing less.

Rafa has already said that a new contract for Xabi is one of the first things the new owners should sort out

Maybe Rafa is just seeing how Xabi will react to being dropped for such a huge match and being treated like a "b" player so (due the fact he played last saturday and this). Still have a sneaky feeling he'll go though. :o

We wouldn't be offering a new deal if we didn't want him and he doesn't seem the type to run away from a challenge so I think he'll stay.

Spot on and Masch is fresher given that he'd hardly played before he joined us.

Whats your problem fella?

If he leaves it will be his own doing

Barca appear very interested

Is it wrong of me to be happy with an Alonso/Eto'o swap?

you would realise quickly why it would be blunder akin to shooting oneself in the testicles

just relax, he's been a bit out of form, playing him allows him to get back into it. He's not going anywhere.

No inside info, just common sense.

Or the opposite as Eto'o lifts number 19 in a Liverpool shirt.

except the ball never reaches Eto'o because Xabis not there to play the pass

Not sure why Xabi would go after Rafa listed him as a key figure for a new contract and according to his brother yesterday on Sky he's very happy playing for us and he can't see him going back to Spain soon.

that headbutt on him from Brown today was disgusting

Brown is up there with Savage as one of the biggest c**** in football (excl Nevilles etc)

Apparently it was an accident. That sort of thing happens all the time - both in games, and just when you're out and about in town. You walk up to someone, and headbutt them. No malice intended. I'd hate the FA to start some sort of witch-hunt and give a nice man like Brown a 3 game ban.
