Will Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Did you see him second half? Cos he was our best player after the break
smithdown Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Worked hard and didn't sh*t out of anything tonight that Zenden.
Lee W Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) Did you see him second half? Cos he was our best player after the break If he was our best player in the 2nd half it would be more a damning indictment of our performance and tactics more than anything else. Fair play though, he didn't go missing like some... Thought Agger and Reina were our best players 2nd half. Edited April 26, 2007 by Lee W
_00_deathscar Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Zenden reminds me of your talentless friend you just bring along to play at the park just to make up the numbers (me in my case ). He shows all the heart, but ultimately just isn't good enough. Disappointing then that all our play went through him...
floyd the barber Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) he might`ve seemed our best player 2nd half....but you would be wrong, it was because we kept playing him the ball hoping he would beat ferrera and get some nice crosses in.........didnt happen, wasted far too many for me. Maldini Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The only good thing I can say about him is he kept trying, and that's an admirable quality. He's got a good attitude.
DanielS Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I'm getting pretty sick of "good, honest pros who work really hard". For once I'd like a cheating, diving c*** who has an impact on the game, please.More Ronaldo or Drogba. Less Kuyt and Zenden.
Paul B Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Thought Zenden played well to be honest. I'll tell you who DIDN'T play well though and to be fair, I haven't seen him play well or offer anything in ANY big game and that's Alonso! Sorry, I know that's like spitting on the cloth or something but he offered precisely Scottish Football Association last night. I know Momo hasn't been setting the world alight lately but I think there's a shout for dropping the Basque and sticking Sissoko in his place for next week. (and yes, I am aware Alonso scored-after missing the pen-in Istanbul)
Cunny Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 he improved second half and didn't really do anyhting terrible over the whole game. However, Ferraira is their weak link at the back and he was there for the taking. I totally understand Zenden getting the nod over Gonzalez but a fit Aurelio or Kewell would have run Ferraira ragged. There was worse than Zenden last night though...

That would be like dropping Henchoz for Biscan. Feckin' madness. Momo couldn't pass wind at the moment.
Paul B Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 That would be like dropping Henchoz for Biscan. Feckin' madness. Momo couldn't pass wind at the moment. Aye, but I think Alonso is so ineffective, something has to be done. Momo was immense against Barcelona and if he could reproduce that form, maybe it's worth a shout.
Barnesy_10 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Second half he was our only form of link up to be honest. He put in a couple of crosses and won a couple of corners, but that one chance when he brought it right up to the line to win a corner would have been better if he had curled one in.. Gerrard was unmarked in the box. Think that shows his faith in his own ability to be honest. First half he made Ferreira look good in my opinion.. and in my eyes Ferreira and Zenden are what most respective fans would say are the weakest players in their squads... so when it came down to them two up against each other it wasn't pretty... but it was never going to be. He played as well as he can in my opinion. Not sure we would ever likely to expect more than that display from him.
IgPig Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Aye, but I think Alonso is so ineffective, something has to be done. Momo was immense against Barcelona and if he could reproduce that form, maybe it's worth a shout. I thought Alonso was pretty good last night - tried to get it wide quickly and never gave up. Problem was that he was passing to Zenden most of time. The Chief wasn't great, which meant Xabi was doing a lot of the work himself.
Spion kop Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 was i watching a different game every time we passed zenden the ball was like giving it to chelsea with a nice pink bow.
Leo No.8 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I'm far from his biggest fan but I just can't see how anyone can say he didn't do OK last night. His turn past Ferreira in the first half was to be fair a flash of brilliant skill, something no-one else managed all night. I didn't think he had it in him.

We should have exploited Ferreira more though. Essien will be there on Tuesday. Edited April 26, 2007 by psl
smicer07 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Essien is a s*** right back though so we can get at him aswell.
johngibo YPC Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I thought Alonso was our best playerHis pass completion rate must have been 90%Even under pressure he always found his manAlonso is the least of our worries
Barnesy_10 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I thought Alonso was our best playerHis pass completion rate must have been 90%Even under pressure he always found his manAlonso is the least of our worries Is it me or is Alonso much much much less effective when we put in another midfielder alongside him other than Stevie...He had a fantastic season before Momo or Masch joined the line up. Not sure if he's getting crowded out and we aren't benefiting from what we loved about him in the first season?

His execution was just poor, one flash of brilliant skill or not.

GET A f***ING GRIP, d****eadS!!! he played ok Will, but to say he was our best player in the 2nd half is a bit stupid. we had 4 or 5 players who had a better second half than Zenden, who, and lets be f***ing brutally honest about it, is not, and never has been, of a high enough quality to be playing for us
jimmylibel Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Zenden worked his socks off but his touch, passing and decision making were generally poor last night. Ferreira was very poor last night and was there to be exposed but we didn't make him pay at all. For all Zenden's willingness he never looked likely to do anything productive in the danger areas. I accept we didn't get enough men forward to help him but the odd time we did his delivery and choices weren't great.
matlfc Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Sick of people saying he doesnt hide. Wish he f***in would when rafa is picking the team.
