Earl Hafler Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 (edited) I don't know how he does it. Time and again he wins challenges yet gets penalised for being taller than the other player. How many times during a season do you see fouls given against players for looking at the opposing player, not the ball, and backing into them ? Hundreds. Drogba does it on Crouch and it's not a free-kick. Crouch wins a ball against Cech...freekick. The England game against Spain was worse but refs just seem to dislike Crouch being so tall !! And he should have started. Edited April 25, 2007 by Big Stuff
Guz Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 That 'foul' on Cech in the last 5-10mins or so was a joke especially since Terry had a good chunk of Kuyt and had his arm round him too. Stupid.
Case Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Some (not all) Foreign Refs don't like the fellah - simple as. Hope we don't get Merk again next week.
Paul_LFC Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 He took that nasty blow to his nose, hope it isn't too harmful...
surf Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Exactly. Crouch goes for a ball and hangs in the air, Cech jumps into Crouch, Crouch gets penalised. Corner towards the end, Reina jumps into a bunch of Chelsea players, no free kick. Crouch gets so many free kicks against him just cause his challenges appear unnatural, not cause of any infringement of the rules. It's feckin unfair.
Beardsley Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Personally, I think the worst call was when Drogba backed into Crouch with no intent of getting the ball and bending over (in a non-homoerotic way) when Crouch unevitably ran into him. Freekick Drogba. FFS. If anything it should be a penalty (harsh, but still....)

Freekick Drogba. FFS. If anything it should be a penalty (harsh, but still....)Or there was the one where Drogba grabs a heft of Aggers shirt, pulls at him but Aggers doesn't move causing Drogba to fall on his a***. Free kick Drogba .... But, goin gback to Crouch, him jumping and Cech clattering into him was just silly, Crouch didn't come close to even suggesting the hint of something wrong that time. Have to say though, he could have given them a penalty and he did refuse Drogba the trainer when Drogba had to lie down cause he felt a sneeze coming on or something. So it wasn't all bad news.
Tones Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Personally, I think the worst call was when Drogba backed into Crouch with no intent of getting the ball and bending over (in a non-homoerotic way) when Crouch unevitably ran into him. Freekick Drogba. FFS. If anything it should be a penalty (harsh, but still....) That was ridiculous. He gets penalised way too much. All you have to do is not go for the ball, just push into crouch and you win a FK. And he really should have started tonight.
Romario Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I totally agree with all this. How the f*** was it a foul against Crouch when that gippo Drogba backed into him regardless of where the ball was, up ended him and won a free out? That's a feckin peno. The Cech one was the same. He went for the ball and won it! Similar thing happened with Reina a time later V 3 Chelsea players and nothing. Not saying it was biased as I thought the ref did well but that's not right.
alias75 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Lets hope we can put some pressure on the ref on Tuesday night and Crouch may get the benefit a few times.
Knox_Harrington Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Lets hope we can put some pressure on the ref on Tuesday night and Crouch may get the benefit a few times.Players need to play their part though. LFC are too nice still.

Raj Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Has a ref EVER had both legs of a European tie???? No
Stevie H Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 the ref was blowing before crouch had even begun to challenge for those last night. pisspoor refereeing.
owenthomas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Players need to play their part though. LFC are too nice still.been saying that for years!
DanielS Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Players need to play their part though. LFC are too nice still. At the start of the season I would have argued against that. I'm just so disappointed in the standard of refereeing, especially regarding gamesmanship, that I can't do anything but agree now. We need to be as snide, underhanded and cheaty as the next lot.
Swan Red Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I totally agree with all this. How the f*** was it a foul against Crouch when that gippo Drogba backed into him don't
Ombudsam Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Worst one was last year when makalele literally jumped into him, and won a free out
