Yes, but as someone pointed, one cannot plan ones season on that. When was the last season when Owen was completely fit for most of it? If anything we could look at him as backup to Torres, not in Kuyt's position. Kuyt has been playing there not because Rafa thinks he's our best attacker there but because he also looks at the defensive side of things and work rate. Owen would provide none of that, so maybe as backup to Torres he'd be okay. But its still a f***ing risk and there are much better options out there.

Everyone saw that Anelka was s***ting bricks to take one though. For a 28 year old, World Cup winning French International, whose played for Arsenal, Liverpool and Real and a regular penalty taker for Bolton, shying away from taking one is unacceptable.
