  1. Ticket pricing was poor for most of the stadium. Chelsea were here a few weeks ago and a lot of the seats for our game were over a tenner more Seats that cost about £35 on our last visit were still under £40 for Chelsea but over £50 for us. They had a less experienced ticket agency managing sales for our game so that may have been a factor. Even for mad Thai Reds, it's a lot of money to watch an exhibition game. Need a longer gap between visits to keep the excitement factor.
  2. Spackman wasn't poor for us.
  3. Liverpool: Dalglish, Souness, Hansen, Rush Non-Liverpool: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

  6. Terry Mac is the correct answer. Another personal favourite is the one when McMahon stopped the ball on the touchline and bounced off the advertising boards, still getting to the ball before the Arsenal player. It's goal D in this set:

    Hillsborough

Mid-80s, Munich songs were quite often sung in the Kop, sometimes when we weren't playing them. Usually there were others who would try and whistle it down but I reckon the mid-80s was when it was loudest at Anfield. There was also a banner at a World Club Championship game in Japan, prominently displayed around about the halfway line so that it got plenty of TV coverage. That cup semi-final between Wolves and Spurs is eerie when you see the fans getting out of the Leppings Lane End. Worse when you realize that Hillsborough wasn't used for semi-finals for several years following that incident, and still didn't have a safety certificate in 1989.

    Hillsborough

Credit to Leeds at Cardiff: Full credit to the visitors, too for having the whole crowd on their feet midway through the first half by starting a chant of "Stand Up for LFC", saluting the vindication of Liverpool's Hillsborough dead.

Well done Leeds at Cardiff: Full credit to the visitors, too for having the whole crowd on their feet midway through the first half by starting a chant of "Stand Up for LFC", saluting the vindication of Liverpool's Hillsborough dead.
  10. One fan supposed to be extradited was serving time at home for something non-football related. After his release the extradition never happened and he was still a regular matchgoer. I think there was only one who did any real time and that was for a bad attack on a Juve fan outside the ground, maybe after the game had taken place. I can't remember the sentence though.

  15. I think we only started getting some real stick coming our way when some of our own fans started proclaiming us the best fans in the world. 70s and 80s we had the best team. We knew we were the best fans too, but we didn't go ramming it down everyone else's throats. Just got on with our own business and didn't care about anyone else. Nowadays it sometimes feels like there are some on a mission to get the world to openly acknowledge our status. Also to take offence at every trivial perceived slight against our club that appears in the media. Such things don't really endear us to others. I don't think it's got much to do with Heysel, Hillsborough or Suarez.

  18. It was funny how Nani was dancing around showing the ref his leg when he saw there was just a yellow coming out.
  19. I'm with you on this. (43 myself) Always ran the show. Always. Interesting what he says about trying to bring changes during his time as manager. I have vague recollections of an article somewhere after he'd gone by a neutral observer saying he was ahead of his time in some of the stuff he'd tried to implement.
  20. This.
  21. Light relief. The Guardian just slipped this into their live transfer page: http://oi54.tinypic.com/160xut1.jpg Could still do a job.
  22. Guardian Live: 2.16pm: The Guardian's Dominic Fifield says that Liverpool and Chelsea haven't struck a deal for Fernando Torres yet, a state of affairs that may be down to Liverpool's reluctantance to sell him without lining up a replacement first.
  23. It's going to be Fat Sam isn't it? The only consolation is we'll be able to use FFS!!
