  1. Thaksin recently made over one billion pounds tax-free from the sale of his company. So he's now got time on his hands, has even more money than he had before - and is travelling to the UK this week. It would still be a terrible idea though.
  2. Walsh was most definitely appreciated by the Kop - name was often the first to be sung and if he was on the bench the Kop would be calling for him to get on at some point.

  5. I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not like they were singing songs at an injured opposition player or anything.
  6. So we wouldn't have to worry about where we finished in the league anymore - 5th, 6th... we'd still be in the European Cup. I know it would work in our favour but honestly what a steaming pile of s*** it would be if it really happened.
  7. The prick received loads of emails after reporting about the Cup game with the Mancs. He responded in an article something along the lines of: Unbelievably loads of Liverpool fans pointed out Alan Smith was applauded off the pitch, but this rose-tinted view of the actions of thousands should be ignored because the two or three idiots who threw bottles at the ambulance are much more representative of Liverpool fans.
  8. "I'm off my trolley. Feck off." Easy. I'm not even deaf.

What's all this fuss about anyway? According to today's Mirror, the Liverpool fans have been wrongly-maligned. Officially exonerated. All those singing at the time can now rest easy
  11. That's the thing about the media. They're very selective about what they choose to see / notice. "Best fans in the world" blah blah blah. It doesn't work when you're self-annointed. Find out what others think about us, not just fans of other teams but people who don't really care about football. We've got a decent reputation in some quarters but nothing like the self-congratulatory crap you read on a lot of the Liverpool forums on the interweb. I get where Anny Road is coming from because I'm not a scouser either but commitment to the team in Red gave me a commitment to the whole city. I'd go along with the view that if you're not from the area you might find the Liverpool-Manc thing difficult to understand. Never mind the footy, I remember going to see Pink Floyd at Maine Road with some lads from the match and it all going off there (with Citeh). They knew we were into Floyd, so they were waiting. We knew they would be. What you heard at the match yesterday was a bit like the Kop used to be (only a bit toned down). That kind of atmosphere was what gave a lot of people a buzz and kept the whole place bouncing. I can't help feeling the gloves have come off now, and like Kev says, it can only get worse from here. On the other hand, the trouble that a lot were expecting doesn't seem to have materialised so maybe normal service will be resumed.

    Well, how many fullbacks are?
  14. Mine too. When you look at the rest, apart from Chelsea and the Mancs (and who knows what their position will be in a year or two), we're doing very well. Some people seem to be hankering after everything that we say is wrong with Chelsea.

    Michael Owen

Starting to lose his nerve now: Guardian NEWCASTLE, England, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Newcastle United chairman Freddie Shepherd said on Thursday time is running out for the club to sign Real Madrid striker Michael Owen. Manager Graeme Souness is desperate to add to his attacking options after a poor start and Newcastle have agreed a club record transfer fee of more than 15 million pounds ($27.03 million) with Real. "We have made our bid and there is not much more we can do," Shepherd said. "We are still waiting to hear from Owen and his adviser. "But it has got to happen today or it is not going to happen at all, and we will be speaking to Michael's people. "Real Madrid will not allow Owen to go out on loan but that is something between them and the player but I am sure that a compromise can be reached."
  19. It's probably a rehash of a story from a couple of years ago then.
  20. Actually, it seems like it's Milan's agent who could be a bit daft - if he really said that and said it about this January. On the other hand he's probably trying to up the ante for contract talks. Don't think it's really necessary though.
