He's doing alright this season isnt he.

Yes. And it’s good to see

It’s also fair to say that Germany is a step below the PL in terms of physicality and speed which plays into his attributes. Was a great move for him and would have been good for us if we’d replaced him properly

Exactly. That's why we know he wasn't a key player in winning the league.

He was absolutely a key player in us winning the league

he was also rubbish the season before and had we sold in 2024 I’d have had no complaints

but he was bloody great last season

How many players do you think played a bigger part?

I think the problem here is that you have taken significant exception to the term 'key player' as if only Mo and Virgil are allowed that moniker. I would say other than those two, he was one of a group of players who were fundamental to the title win. He led the press, scored as many goals as anyone but Mo (I am guessing here) and carried the ball into the opposition half regularly. He was therefore, in my view, a key part of the team that won the title.

Mac Allister, Grav, Konate etc  were also key players. That's why we won the league, because many of our players were great.

Then Gakpo was a key player by that standard. I don't think he was either btw.

I think at least Alisson, Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Gravenberch, Szoboslai, Mac Allister and Salah were more important.

8 players played more than him in the league.

Diaz was great for us. Contributed important goals and assists, showed energy and pressing from the front and rarely injured. Also made space for others.

he’s also 29, wanted to move on and enabled us to get our summer signings in - which on paper are better.

our mistake was not playing by Rio more and signing Isak so late in the window. Bad luck with injuries didn’t help.

This was happening last season.

The mental gymnastics that some fans have went through this season to crap on Salah and Klopp just to defend other players and Slot is bizarre

Peak Lionel Mess wouldn't have won Brentford the title,  what is that idiot on about?

So do I. Pointless selling a senior forward without a replacement.

Typical of our setup though he won’t be the last to be inadequately replaced

I haven't read any of that thread. I just seen the graphic showing how are forwards were doing.
