Martin Kelly a cpl of seasons ago was progressing really well , a cpl of nasty injuries later and it seems like he is having major difficulties in regaining full fitness . I would have thought this season he would push on his fitness and be in competition for a starting role but it just hasn't happened , I have fears for hs future especially as a possible right back for us .

If we decided to give Kelly a go at centre back where he has played before it may help i think , at right back , he needs to have a lot more stamina than at center back , at right back he is expected to get up and down the line so much , at center back it's a lot more limited to the distance and amount of running to be done .

He has the height , hes good in the air , he can pass well , I would love to see him succeed at the club and I feel that it may be his best chance at centre back .

Do you think he will regain his fitness and what position do you think he will end up playing if he stays with us ?

I think he would have been top class, but injuries have robbed him of his athletic abilities and pace. Kelly was seriously rapid for a big lad before this latest injury, but he's struggling in the bits he gets at the moment. He had size, speed and was pretty good on the ball as well.

Think he's worth keeping hold of for next season though (as in not selling him but loaning him out instead) in case he stays injury free long enough and gets some of his former gifts back. Would almost certainly send him out on loan to get him games and try to achieve that turnaround.

I always thought he'd end up at centre half.

I think the loan idea would the best scenario , hopefully he would get a good run of games which would give him the best opportunity possible to get some form of decent match fitness , that's going to be the big test for him , can he or can't he get fit enough again , if he can't then he will definately move .

Once Johnson, Agger, Sakho and Enrique back I would probably send him out on loan to a championship side this season, we have those 4 plus the 4 who played the other night anyway. Let him have some game time, enjoy his football and try and get back to a level where he was at before. I personally think the injuries have probably done some lasting damage, but we won't find out unless he can get a run of games, which he isnt going to get here this season

Not good enough cover at full back. Not good enough cover at centre back. Once had the potential to be a good utility player but he needs to leave LFC to resurrect his career.

Obsession ?

I haven't seen anything like that in here .

He seems lke a decent lad , worked his way into the first team squad , put some really good performances and then had a cpl of really nasty injuries which seem to have cruelly detracted from his abilities .

Anytime we can bring a good young player through the ranks I see that as a good thing for the club in lots of ways , I saw Kelly as a genuine possible to be within our squad until his injuries , unfortunately now I fear he will not be able to re-reach his former levels or improve on them .

Pretty much covers it.

I always liked him at right back, thought he was very solid and got up to support the winger.

Much more solid than Johnson for example.

Really like Flanagan there now.

I'd keep him as back up for Flanagan if Johnson is off this summer, if he isn't then I'm not sure where he fits in the squad with McLaughin coming through as well.

PS: Wisdom is deffo not a right back for me and could be a really good CB for us next to Sakho in the coming years.

How many injuries has he had?

I don't see the value of selling when his stock is probably as low as its going to get, and his wages probably aren't too much. Loan him out, see if he can get it back before giving up on him.

Someone one here was constantly saying he was better than Johnson a couple seasons ago...

He showed promise, don't think anyone would rate him better than Johnson when he had played what 20+ games for us at the time? He could come back but he will need a season on loan both to prove he can come back from his injuries but also as a footballer because he has played sod all football at any consistently meaningful level in a long while - 15ish appearances in a year and a half.

Two properly serious ones and of course there have been your normal niggles .

One serious injury can change a players future never mind two , I do hope he can regain a decent level of fitness , if the fitness issue can be got past I do think he could still be an able squad player for us .

I do remember posters enjoying his form and looking forward to seeing how he could progress but nothing more than that .

He looked good enough cover at full back a couple of years back. Whether he can get his career back on track remains to be seen.

Definitely a career option there. Do we know what his acting skills are like?

not sure about his acting skills, I'm merely looking at this with regards to how he looks
