In with the home fans at Goodison

Hey,

Sorry if I should have stuck this somewhere else rather than start a new thread, but through a few people at work, I think I'm pretty much guaranteed a few tickets for the derby at Goodison next month - but it'd be in the Everton end.

Anyone done this? Any issues? Despite the rivalry being pretty spiky in recent years, I'd have thought it'd still be okay to do this, but don't want to be celebrating and end up getting a dig to the back of the head.

Don't celebrate, wear your Everton shirt. Easy.

I've done it in 2001. It was sound.

As long as you don't go mad you will be fine

I held it in until Gary Mac scored the winner and went mental. Luckily their end just emptied at that point

Cheers John. I mean, if we score and I celebrate but don't act the t***, will anything be said/done?

You'd have to be very unlucky and get a real knob next to you

It also depends where you are sat

But I'm shocked if I don't get a blue somewhere near me at the Anfield game, and I am sure they are the same.

it's almost impossible to say, it only needs one t** to give you a slap or something, stuff'll be said in any case

Aye that's true. Really want to go but not sure I fancy spending the entire game being conscious of that and/or listening to their s***.

I've a short enough fuse listening to d****eads in the pub!

Ta. I'll post again when I find out where the tickets are, sure.

Shame I can't get them in the Liverpool end. That'd be ace. Never been to an away before.

used to be able to swap them outside for the other end dead easy, I always wanted to go in the Gwladys St cos the Park End was such a sh*t spec and it was no bother in th'olden days

Done it twice. First time we lost 1-0 and Carsley scored, second time we won 3-1 and Cisse scored a peach.

Its more of a give away when you lose than when you win as its easier not to celebrate than not to look pissed off. I didn't have any problems though.

No chance of swapping these days? In the 'modern era'?

In 2002-03 I was in with Everton fans at the Anny Rd end, right next to Liverpool fans = gip for 90 minutes from Liverpool fans for being a 'blue'

In 2003-04 season I was in the Anny Rd end again this time in the LFC end right next to them = gip for 90 minutes for being a red, which was fair enough

both games ended 0-0 so it never really went off, save for Gerrard's horror tackle on Naysmith in the first game - their fans also sang some pretty unpleasant stuff, which you get funny looks for not joining in

no idea what it's like at Goodison - you'll probably be fine and not have your head stoved in at all.

I got spat on the back of my head at Goodison in about 97. I stood up when Redknapp scored. That was enough. You couldn't pay me to sit in their bits, and I f***ing hate it when they're near my seat at Anfield.

I was in the Gladwys street when Houghton scored that header. I kept my mouth shut.

last time I was in there was a 3-1, they had Whiteside in their team and we had Barnes so it was all jolly good fun and singy-songy

was in the enclosure for the 5-0 and that went pretty berzerk

I did it a few times in the 80's at Goodison and it was fine but I was 15-6 and with a blue mate.

I've done it a few times in recent years down here, Fulham, Spurs and Arsenal, and it's f***ing horrible. The best part of football is going apes*** when you score, being in the away end takes that away. It'll be alright like, but I must admit I won't be doing it again I don't think.

There's a lot fewer doing that over the past 4 or 5 years. I don't know if the club has a policy now or are stricter.

Also seems to have helped the atmosphere (a little). I was shocked how poor the atmosphere was - sure it'd be tense as the game went on but from the start of the matches it would just be flat.

It was easier when it was terracing cos you could congregate. Was with an enclave of about 100 on the Gwladys for the 4-4.

We were a little knot of exultancy in a bleak brooding forest 4 times that night.

We were a disconsolate cork in a stormy sh*tty ocean 4 times that night.

Only did it in the seats once when McManaman & Bruce had their tear up which caused it to kick off where I was.
