Following on from the team team of current players going to S Africa. I noticed we have a lot of ex players too.

Off the top of my head I can think of

James

Arbeloa

Warnock

Song

Alonso

Kewell

Anelka

Crouch

Heskey

Can we get a whole team?

mark gonzalez is going. so is alou diarra. djibril cisse. carl medjani is in the algeria squad. there are quite a few.

With Cisse that is 4 forwards, all of whom are better than N'Gog. It's a shame at least one of them wasn't still with us.

Rafa obviously thinks that Ngog is better than all of them combined

Cisse can do two things - run fast and hit the ball hard, and he didn't do the second one well.

I wouldn't have chosen to keep Cisse but I still think he is better than Ngog. Anelka left a long time ago, so cant really say much about keeping him, Heskey was good when paired with Owen, Crouch we should have kept and still have.

and pay him more than portsmouth were offering and guarantee him a first team place?

Exactly. This myth that Crouch wanted to stay but was shown the door is ridiculous. And Cisse wasn't all that either. Ngog may have struggled in front of goal this season, but he's got a good first touch, can hold the ball up, beat a man - any of those things sound like a Cisse trait?

The problem is not that we sold Crouch, Heskey, Anelka (who we never owned) and Cisse etc. Nor is the problem that Ngog is poor.

The problem is that Ngog shouldn't be our second choice, he should be 3rd or 4th, we shouldn't have to rely on a £1.5m kid as much as we have. Specially when we have raised so much money from sales of strikers.

If football were like rugby and you just had to get to the other side to score, Cisse would have been a boss player. Kick *smack* run, kick *smack* run...

Drop Heskey to right back.

I quite liked Djib. Not the brightest spark but his heart was in the right place. I'd take him over any of our back up strikers.

All one of them?

I wouldn't swap him for Pacheco if you count him. At least Pacheco might turn into a footballer

I have high hopes for Pacheco but I wouldn't class him as a striker. Ngog and Kuyt are our only real back ups to Torres.

You're a bit dim

  you just described Babel

If it had been "lumber along and mis*** the ball" you would have had Heskey.
