Seems tomorrow 15 cities will be bidding to be one of the 10 that form part of the final bid put to Fifa, with between 12 and 18 stadiums put forward. Will be interesting to see how committed we are to that as Liverpool's city bid will be made on the basis of two yet to be built stadia

I think the whole thing is f***ed and the people running with the bid know it is f***ed too. There is no money to build or transform stadiums.

They all seem to hate each other and the dark Lord in charge more than anyone. Having said that the Olympic bid was in similar trouble

The government has knocked back the Tesco Dome in Kirkby.

World Cup bid coming up that means millions to cities holding matches.

Groundshare anyone ?

It's all coming together.

What a shame. Perhaps they could have us in contingent upon it being finished by a certain date.

They are, that's the rub, the only reason not to have Liverpool in would be if they didn't have the faith in or the guarantees from both clubs regarding the grounds being built

What could possibly make them question whether or not the stadium will ever be built?

Maybe if we were bidding to hold the 'Kev's Fantasy Land Cup'

I dont want it, but with so much money to be made by people with the power, it was never going to go away. This World Cup bid could be to them the ideal opportunity to get it back on the board again.

I have never once thought it would go away.

England doesn't need to build any new stadiums to have the World Cup. If the Olympic stadium stays at full capacity (good chance it will) there'll be at least six stadiums over 50,000 capacity.

Don't see what difference it makes, surely the matches Liverpool would get would be split between the two stadia, now the bluesh*te aren't getting theirs, it would mean the new Anfield would get twice as many matches, and this more money to LFC?

Besides, I don't know which is less likely at the moment, us getting a new stadium, or England hosting the world cup. The FA's inability to organise a brewery based p*ssup is well established.

I also doubt a shared stadium is likely at the moment either, not only are the two owners already widely hated as it is, and it would be profoundly dumb of them to do something as unpopular as this (and they know it) I doubt they could afford half a stadium anyway.

Some fat junior Purslow says Groundshre isn't part of our plans at this time.

Just stopped short of "Yet"

Everton may ground-share

Toffees consider options after Kirkby rejection

26th November 2009

Everton chief executive Robert Elstone has revealed the club would consider sharing a ground with city rivals Liverpool after plans for a new stadium at Kirkby were rejected.

The club and Tesco had hoped to build a new stadium and a shopping complex, in a move which would have seen Everton leave Goodison Park.

However, the idea was turned down by Communities and Local Government Secretary John Denham.

The news has raised the possibility of Everton and Liverpool coming to an agreement to share a ground, with Liverpool's plans to build a new stadium at Stanley Park being hit by financial problems.

The fierce rivals have previously expressed a reluctance about sharing a ground, but in the wake of the failed Kirkby project, Elstone has revealed Everton are not against the idea if it makes financial sense for both clubs.

Option

Asked about the idea of ground-sharing, Elstone told Sky Sports News. "It's certainly one of the options that we will need to cover.

"A shared stadium is perhaps an option if it's affordable.

"We have to look at where we can raise money, because potentially Liverpool will have to obviously contribute to that, and Liverpool City Council perhaps might need to find some money.

"Our history is one of creativity and innovation and if we are the first major English club to look at sharing then we're not scared of making those decisions."

Unlikely

But Liverpool's deputy executive director Peter Shaw played down the possibility of the city's two clubs sharing a stadium.

"It's not on our agenda at the moment," said Shaw.

"Liverpool are progressing forward with our own stadium. That is the position we are still in.

"The LFC stadium is quite far progressed and once the financial markets reopen for business the LFC stadium will progress further."

When asked whether the idea of a groundshare with Everton could be a possibility, he said: "That's not for me to answer."
