carrafan Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Take a bow. Pure class. How he came from being a hit and miss squad player to one of our most important one in 10 months time, i'll never know. The vision and the ability to find Torres' run was nothing short of brilliant. Except for Gerrard, i dont think anyone can spot a short pass as regularly as Yossi. He's tiny but isnt bullied by defenders either, he just shimmies and goes past them like they're not there. 4.5 million, well spent. He'd get into most teams in the world in this vein of form. Apparently, a nice guy as well. And thats knee jerk for you.
New York Red Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He's so damn creative and intelligent in his play. He's so versatile too. Great anywhere in the midfield.
DazzlaJ Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He needs to learn how to f***ing shoot, apart from that
downunder Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 To me, he is like Messi, obviously not in the same class, but the way he can dribble, the ball sometimes seems stuck to his foot. A quality player.
San Diego Red Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He was brilliant. But is it really that hard for Pleat to say Benayoun?
Cheesecake Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 careful, we'll become a 3 man team if you spout stuff like that.... we can ONLY have 2 world class performers, Sky say so....
downunder Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 careful, we'll become a 3 man team if you spout stuff like that.... we can ONLY have 2 world class performers, Sky say so.... He probably won't be happy if we get Arab investment though.
Nerik Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He was brilliant. But is it really that hard for Pleat to say Benayoun? When we had Crouch and Kuyt up front he'd refer to either of them as Kraut.

But you're spot on in terms of how important Benayoun has become for us. I love the way the ball sticks to him, and he plays the kind of forward passes that intelligent forwards love. Doomsday article in the Sunday Times today suggesting we're likely to sell him, as we could get good money for him
domlfc Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Another of Rafa's bad buys, if only he was as good as Nanny or pammy
Widnesian Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Absolutely magnificent performance from the Israeli captain.
David Hodgson Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I want to take the opportunity to ask Mike to come here and post about how a year ago I told him that the time would come when Beni was first name on the teamsheet. How they scoffed at me then. Now, as for Babel .......
floyd the barber Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He was brilliant. But is it really that hard for Pleat to say Benayoun? i know seriously!!! wasnt he saying something to the effect of bennyoyounian.........poor pleat, still he loved lucas today
Farmer's Tan Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) i know seriously!!! wasnt he saying something to the effect of bennyoyounian.........poor pleat, still he loved lucas today pleat is definitely the best of the commentary bunch and always gives us a fair shout, you see he has appreciation for proper footballing clubs and as an ex manager he has a wealth of knowledge unlike most of the g*******s that plague the games i watch. benny has been in my opinion our best player since the second half of last season,is only real weakness is his tendency to hold the ball too long and beat an extra man, which he sometimes is successful at but also causes him to lose the ball too. ManOfSteel Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He's a very, very good player. I can't believe how we managed to get him for so cheap. But I'm delighted, he's a joy to watch when he's in this kind of form. I'd definitely say he's been our best player of '09.
Hassony Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He probably won't be happy if we get Arab investment though. why?

downunder Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 why? Israelis don't (on the whole) get on too well with their Arab neighbours.....they have had a few issues since 1948. It would be interesting if we are taken over by any Arabs and we toured there, would they let Yossi in? Bolton had issues with their Israeli player a year or 2 back.
fyds Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Class act is Benny - how many times can you knot Evra's legs?
David Hodgson Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 why? Cos some Arab countries don't let Israelis into their country.
Red Kent Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I would have happily carried his bags for him 18 months ago.
Tosh Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 rafa got lucky, because he is realy bad in the transfer market apparentlybetter to be lucky than good....
Swagger Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 He probably won't be happy if we get Arab investment though. Hasn't stopped Portsmouth's new Saudi owner from appointing Avram Grant ...
downunder Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Hasn't stopped Portsmouth's new Saudi owner from appointing Avram Grant ... Very true, I hadn't thought of that.
