How long till our young Argie joins Mascherano? Does anyone think he'll make it to the 2010 WC spot? They've only got Heinze of any real note at left back haven't they? And he's s***...

if he stays in our first XI, keeping a full italian international out of the side, and can shine in the champions league too, then he's got to be knocking on the door. heinze's f***ing rubbish these days - bullet well dodged there.

He isn't in the full squad at the moment is he? He might be able to force his way if he continues to impress

Been named in the squad this morning

I'm sure there are also Argie left backs playing in South America that you're not fully aware of.

He's a tidy little player in fairness, like him a lot. if we sort our injuries we'll be proper good at the back

Great news that he's made the Argentinian squad.

People are starting to realise that he's got some potential.

Looks a top young player.

Great news for who? Not us.

Dont think their squad has even been announced yet. Lucas is in for Brazil though.

yeah i think a lot of these post split from the Lucas thread were actually about Lucas.

Has really bulked up over the last year. Looks like a Prem player now.

Still hasn't really been tested defensively, but football has changed a lot - there aren't many teams that play with out and out wingers, so it's even more important to have full backs that are comfortable on the ball and can contribute to attacking play

I actually saw Insua's first game for the reserves a few years back and I've been really sold on him since.

He has plenty of ability on the ball, a great left foot, reads the game well and although he looks a bit bulky I think this is quite deceiving as he gets up and down the line extremely well.

One thing I particularly like about him is the aggressive positions he takes up, pressing the opposition higher up the pitch that many of the more defensively minded full backs we've had in the past.

Personally I think he's been ready for first team football for a couple of years now, but Rafa likes to play it safe with the young lads and I'm sure he knows best. He's still only 20 but very mature for his age in his play and temperament.

Aurelio is a wonderful footballer, but with his injuries I feel Insua should be first choice from now on. We've got to look long term and this lad could be ours and Argentina's first choice left back for the next ten years and beyond.

Its fantastic that we have found our answer to Cole, Evra and Clichy from the reserves. £1.7m is looking likely to be one hell of a bargain, and hoepfully more of the young lads we have invested in will follow his lead.

Mine was about Lucas, certainly

Insua is the better all-round full-back.

You could argue that - I for one actually agree with you Fred but many won't. I think that whichever way you see it, only one of the two is likely to give you 40 games a season and has a long career ahead of him.

For this reason and with Insua's continuing development he should be first choice most weeks, with Aurelio or Dossena coming in when he's rested, rather than the other way around.

I think thats wrong, Aurelio is a wonderful full back, such a shame about the fitness.

Aurelio is great on the ball but Insua is much more willing and able to overlap, as well as being physically stronger. At the same time, he uses the ball well enough.

Its a nice position to be in having two such good options for that position. Aurelio probably works better with someone like Riera in front of him who is more likely than Yossi to stay out wide. Yossi on the other hand needs Insua to give us the width with his overlapping runs.

I'm pleased that we have them both and they offer different positive attributes from that position.

I really like Aurelio and think he is a very talented player. Wonderful left foot and good game intelligence. He also looks like a scouser, which is a positive. Insua seems to have developed into a very promising, balanced full back. So much so, that we haven't missed Aurelio this season.

We need two good left backs and we have them, plus Dossena
