He said the team who loses will go closest to the league.

We're out but with our heads held high.

That'll do for me.

Arsenal next.

Tremendous.

really proud of the players tonight, many teams would have gone out tamely but to come back not once but twice from 2 goals behind was an amazing effort.

Ultimately i think that effort in the first 45min took its toll on the players in the 2nd half, and when we had to push our defenders struggled to cope.

Amazing game to watch.

Definitely. I think it'll all help the league push.

So proud of the fight though.

did Hiddink teach him a lesson in this game as well?

Don't forget the best player in the world - Essien - who I didn't realise was playing until he cleared off the line in the last minute.

With you here Smithdown, the lads, the manager deserve full credit tonight, what a performance and effort that was. I honestly thought we were down and out, once before the game started and when the game went 3-2 to them.

Everyone deserves credit tonight, no one should be blaming Rafa or any of the players, despite us going out, this game has just shown me more evidence that we have got what it takes to win the League this season. Belief is there, Arsenal up next week, the Redmen at Anfield should be getting our unequivocal support.

I'm f***ing proud of them tonight, we never gave up, we've got the attitude, mentality and determination to win this League. COME ON!

Many many things to be proud of about our club today, not least the noise from our supporters, again.

Now the distraction of the past 2 hours is over, back to what's on all our minds this week - JFT96.

Hopefully Porto knock the Mancs out tomorrow night.

but but but but but but but but but if the mancs go through they'll lose their focus on the league

or something

There are 96 poor souls that will be proud of the teams dignity, pride and determination shown out there tonight.

Spot on, I really thought it was meant to be for the 96.

Is true. Team and supporters. What a club, eh? :applause:

I know when I go to the ground tomorrow, I couldn't be much prouder of what we're about.

to be fair to Essien, he didn't have an injured player to mark. He's the best in the world in that role.

the best since Peter atherton retired

proud of all the team tonight, we came close, i don't think any other team would have shown the same fight as our boys did tonight, and that was without Gerrard and with torres not turning up

the fans were fantastic as well, no need for plastic flags

ITV interviewer to Rafa: "Does that make your title challenge stronger or weaker?"

Rafa: "Stronger, clearly."

He feckin well meant it as well.
