In reality this season has seen a huge improvement

Granted we are all disappointed that we have let Utd build what looks to be an unassailable lead in the league. However, lets put this season into perspective.

a. Only beaten twice in games we should have won comfortably

b. We have beaten the two top teams home qnd away and very comfortably at that.

c. Pissed through our CL group with games to play

d. Beat one of the games top teams 5-0 on aggregate in the CL

e. Ended Chelsea's home unbeaten record

f. Clobbered the team being proclaimed as "the greatest ever" 4-1 at home

If we take into consideration we lead the league for long periods while our top scorer has been missing half the season, our inspirational skipper has had injuries and a 20 million pound buy was a flop and our owners continue to be muppets, many of us would have gladly taken this outcome pre-season. We will kick ourselves for dropping points to the likes of Stoke, Hull and Boro, but we can't overlook how much we have improved over last season. Hopefully we can win some silverware to celebrate our improvement.

Agree, im happy with the improvements made, to be where we are having had Torres and Gerrard play just 9 games together is pretty f***ing good I think. We've conquered the demons of beating Chelsea away and Utd home or away and that must give us s*** loads of confidence. And say Utd draw with Fulham (unlikely I know) and we beat Villa then its suddenly two points with them having a game in hand, that is f*** all, this aint over yet but even if we dont win it we can go into next season genuinely believing we can win it rather than hoping.

We've still got the biggest club competition in the world to come aswell. If we end the season with nothing thats not great but still at least there is signs of improvement, now if only we had stable ownership and half these brilliant players (and manager) werent out of f***ing contract in 15months which is s***ting the life out of me.

If it goes into the final one or two games with the league not secure for the Mancs, then you never know...

Their last two home game are Arsenal and City. If we can be in a situation where they need 3pts from those two games we could be in business.

Is this weekend finally time for a good, encouraging atmosphere at home in the league?

We haven't had one since United in September. Come on everyone, let's support the team.

Hopefully but some beauts will probably be more concerned with booing Gareth Barry or something rather than supporting our team.

It should be bouncing though, especially if Fulham were to perform a "miracle" to quote their manager.

i'm going with a banner that reads:

"Typical, we look like world beaters one week and then play like this the next"

and unfurl it after 35 seconds.

The problem is that everyone is a big, fat, lying git.

Including me.

If you read what people said at the start of the season - then no one at all had any optomism of challenging in the league. At all.

THAT was the goal pretty much everyone wanted.

'To be challenging'.

Well. We have done and we have done mainly leading from the front. With a few key injuries to Agger, Gerrard and Torres - plus a few others to derail us. We've had some pretty amazing fightbacks and we went through a bit of a blip. But. Here we are. March and we're still kind of within touching distance (Down a hill with the wind behind us).

It's going to be a struggle. And it might be a step too far. But given how incredibly good we are in Europe - we're building on that. We're still in Europe and slowly we're improving in the league. We've got some quality top class players - Reina in goal, Gerrard and Masch and Alonso in the middle and Torres up front - plus a fair few decent squad players and a few youngsters starting to get within a few years of potential inclusion.

IF you look at what WE asked for pre-season - then I think you'd say we should be over the moon with our progress.

We've gone from a 'maybe' 'possibly' top-four side to a 'probable' top four side that is still performing in Europe.

Happy days!
