Iver Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) Think this merits a thread in it's own right, and provides some welcome diversion, from the anti-climax of transfer deadline day for us. Why dont we just contract some West Ham players to karate kick Ronaldo between the shoulder blades on Saturday? Surely the likes of a t*** like Lucas Neill would be up for it, safe in the knowledge that he would escape disciplinary action from the FA. It beggars belief. Edited February 2, 2009 by Iver
mathewbet1 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Guess who answered the phone when this complaint and incident went into the FA?
badtodabone Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 what was the reasons given by the fa for not charging him? its a disgrace
stressederic Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 what was the reasons given by the fa for not charging him? its a disgrace The linesman said he saw it and decided not to act. The FA can only act on something that the officials missed. This stinks to me of someone asking the linesman; "How the hell did you miss that?" To which the reply is immediately: "Oh... erm... no I didn't miss it... I saw it perfectly... erm and decided not to do anything..."
mathewbet1 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 One of THE most staggering the fa has done (or not done!) ever. Picture the scene at their head office....frightening.
Paisley Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I am staggered by this decision - If Gerrard had done the same thing in that game then Sky and the papers would have made a huge thing of it and he'd have been banned for a month.
MFletcher Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) Inept from the FA again. That linesman should be permanently demoted if he saw it and decided it didn't merit a red. Unless I'm mistaken, he actually gave a free kick to Chelsea instead. Useless. Edited February 2, 2009 by MFletcher
Nebraska Red Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 watched it again this evening and I am still stunned. it comes to something when Barry Horne is shocked by another players actions on the pitch. the FA may well find that this decision comes back to haunt them in the future. however, when it comes to the FA actually doing the right thing, we'll all have a long wait.
GWistooshort Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 This one isn't all the FA's fault - in incidents where the offending player has not been punished enough or at all FIFA's Laws of the Game prohibit the FA from taking any disciplinary action if it was seen by at least one of the match officials when it happened Apparently FIFA didn't even want to allow red cards to be rescinded if the referee agrees when the FA approached them about post-match disciplinary action It's a stupid situation & does the game no favours whatsoever I'd hope that the linesman (in particular as he apparently was the only match official to see it) & Riley are given a good talking following the review of their performance by Keith Hackett or the like
Stevie H Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 what did the linesman think that benayoun was doing though? obstructing bosingwa?
GWistooshort Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 How he didn't think Boswinga's challenge was a straight red given his view of it, I just don't know
Spike Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 That pic with the stewards reminded me. Has anyone discounted one of them sneakily playing in goal for Chelsea on Sunday?
Murphman Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) How he didn't think Boswinga's challenge was a straight red given his view of it, I just don't know To be fair the linesman didn't get a clear view of it. -Edit Just seen GW said the same, oops! Edited February 3, 2009 by Murphman
_00_deathscar Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Lino thought Benayoun was deliberately attacking the corner flag.
Hassony Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Lino thought Benayoun was deliberately attacking the corner flag. Lino was clearly anti-semitic
AntM Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The linesman said he saw it and decided not to act. The FA can only act on something that the officials missed. And this is precisely why the Respect campaign is doomed... if a mistake is made then rectify it and do so transparently... then you might have a system that players and supporters can actually believe in.
_00_deathscar Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Bosingwa looks like he's doing Drogba up the wrong 'un there.
Tones Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Inept from the FA again. That linesman should be permanently demoted if he saw it and decided it didn't merit a red. Unless I'm mistaken, he actually gave a free kick to Chelsea instead. Useless. He didnt even think it was a yellow, or even a free kick to us. Incompetent t***.
Leo No.8 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Unfortnately the FA can't act - the rules are in place for a reason and they can't so anything if the linesman says he saw it. That linesman should be ashamed of himself though. Seeing the incident and giving a free kick to Chelsea is worthy of being kicked down to doing the line in the conference, and not seeing it from a yard away equally so. He's clearly trying to cover his own back, so what The FA should be doing is looking at the competence of the linesman.
Jacks Jackie Jackson Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Lino was clearly anti-semitic There may indeed be more to this than meets the eye. We're laughing at the above but I posted on here following the game that the result would gloss over one of the most inept and shameful officiating performances seen at Anfield in recent years, and that's saying something. That lino, Mo Mattadar, should go back to whatever pub league promoted him out of their area to get him away from ruining their games. He was way, way behind the play and always late putting up his flag often preferring to wait and see which way Riley was going before deciding what to do. In short, he was a joke. I did wonder if Mo was short for Mohammed and therefore there may have been some anti semitism there, that's for others to decide but personally I doubt he did see the incident as he certainly missed everything else.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I did wonder if Mo was short for Mohammed and therefore there may have been some anti semitism there f***ing hell. just f***ing hell.

Are you being serious? If so, you need to have a word with yourself. He was a poor linesman, that is all.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 even funnier is Bosingwa's reaction. He walks away pissed right off, knowing it's a FK to us & not even contesting it. The only reason it's being glossed over is that we won. Imagine it was 0-0 at that point in the game & we hadn't been given the FK?
