He seems to get the cr*p kicked out of him. I just saw the bearded German c*nt knobble him, but it seems to happen a lot with him.

He's not an actor or diver at all. He really gets kicked -- a lot.

I hope this doesn't build up and ultimately shorten his career. He's getting a lot of miles on him from this.

All the greats got that sort of treatment. I remember Rush getting kicked all over the pitch at times, when they could get near him anyway. He's hard as nails, don't worry.

I've always noticed that when his team get a corner (either or Spain) he bends over with his hands on his knees looking knackered. He does get the s*** kicked out of him though. I've backed 2-0 /3-0 /4-0 with Torres as 1st goalscorer.

Charrggeeee!!!!!!

Same here - frigging conspiracy, that was

Torres 1st scorer, Spain ht / ft, Spain 3-0 with Torres 1st goal at 80-1.

He needs to dive then. Because non-divers inevitably take more punishment.

He's hard, he can take it.

Related though is Gerrard's seeming silence during matches. I'm not saying he should be like Roy Keane, but a quiet 'Torres is getting booted all over ref' would not go amiss. His reputation with England gives him influence in these situations, he should use it more.

At the very least it will give us more free-kicks in Barry Territory.

absolutely, torres is hard as nails. gives his fair share back out to defenders too, both physically and verbally. he must be an utter f***ing nightmare to play against.

Funny enough NYR my Mrs said the same thing watching it last night; 'the way Torres throws himself into everything he'll get injured - he should be careful'. A good girl she is looking out for Fernando.

He's extremely strong and athletic and does seem very durable, but I can't help sh*tting myself every time he gets kicked or brought down which because of the aggressive way he plays is fairly frequent.

I think he's best as he is though as you tend to find the players who pull out of tackles get injured more often; it's more dangerous not to go into a tackle fully committed because if the other player is you will almost certainly come off worst.

Injuries are always more of a worry when you have a player who is irreplacable.

How do you know he doesn't do that?

Torres gets kicked about a lot, but those of you who are claiming that he doesn't dive or overact are being perhaps a little biased.

If he did you could see him

I agree with the general point. That Gerrard should be in the ref's ear more. Worst is when people are timewasting at Anfield and everyone just stands their watching him

He needs to dive in order not to get injured, and I have no problems with any attackers who does that (including C ronaldo), why the defenders shouldn't get punished for dangerous/ bad play

there are players who dive without getting touched (like Pires or Viera), these are the real cheaters

You sound like Alex Ferguson justifying a fresh batch of Ronaldo theatrics.

Defenders cheat all the time, why should they be able to get away with it?

I wasn't arguing about whether diving is acceptable or not, just that there seems to be a blind eye turned when Torres does it. It's part and parcel of the game now. As Knox Harrington said, it's generally used to gain an advantage.
