After the year we have had, finishing less than 10 points or better behind the eventual champions would be very welcome Edited March 13, 2008 by bazz
Tosh Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I do hope that you are in no way suggesting anything to do with the opposite of "off"
Hassony Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 If chelsea win their next game (which is birmingham away) they play arsenal at home after that and a win will put them ahead of arsenal! We just have to concentrate on one game at a time, If we beat Reading, Manu and Arsenal I might start getting excited
honourablegeorge Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Ten points off the top would be progress. Slow progress, but progress. Considering the dip we had, and all the disruption, it'd be a reasonable season.

Eskimo Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 What Problems? The ones that exist in all our heads, except Cobs'..
Huyton_Red Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 If only eh.... If only we had won three of the stupid games we drew at home Or what if Arsenal and chelsea would not have both equalised at Anfield in the last ten minutes We would have still been on for the title But instead of looking at the top three, I would suggest it is far more important to look at Everton, especially given that after we play Fulham at home we play Utd, Everton, Quarter Final of champions league first leg, Arsenal, Quarter Final of champions league second leg, Blackburn in the next six games, they are four hard premiership games we have to win, everton are playing very well at the minute and it would be mad to underestimate them.
beejay Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Madness. Before we start to dream about top 3, there's a little matter of 4th to secure where our rivals have the same points as us and on paper, an easier run-in without the distraction of Europe.

We could conceivably lose all six, I suppose. Right, that's my buzz ruined.
Siang Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 what's the odds of us doing the double? i m serious u know

Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 what's the odds of us doing the double? i m serious u know Whats that, the CL and securing 4th ? Would much prefer to win the CL and finish 5th
Hassony Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Whats that, the CL and securing 4th ? Would much prefer to win the CL and finish 5th I think he is talking about Winning the CL and winning the title
Lanus Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Look, I know that it is alm/ost impossible for us to win the league.. I AM NOT SAYING IT COULD HAPPEN. but since when did we co'me within touching distance of being labelled a challenger again? Is it just me or is Rafa very close to having the last laugh here? he did talk about a strong finish due to the players being fitter than the other teams when using his rotation policy. Looking at tomorrows fixtures doesn't say much for us getting any closer but if we can keep winning and the top teams drop points here and there.. we could easily be within 5 points of the top place when the season ends.... that would be progress surely? as in, wouldnt Rafa keep his job regardless of how well we do in the CL?
Lanus Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Over the last 6 premier league games no team has attained more points than us. Out of 18 we got 16. from the last 4 games alone we are really eating up the ground on the others. out of 12 points Liverpool - 12Chelsea - 8Man utd - 7Arsenal - 6 I think that one of the reasons that sky etc have not picked up on this or noticed that liverpool are drawing the other teams in is because evertons form has also been excellent. out of the last 12 points they too got 12 and have 14 out of the last 18. if results go our way tomorrow then you'll start to hear a buzz from sky and the tabloids, not sure what they'll be saying exactly but either way, we might be looking at a decent enough finish to our so called wasted premier league campaign this season.
Siang Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Whats that, the CL and securing 4th ? Would much prefer to win the CL and finish 5th winning both, actually!! i m a greedy sod!!
Siang Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I think he is talking about Winning the CL and winning the title aye aye
surf Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 We could conceivably lose all six, I suppose. Right, that's my buzz ruined. That would be a great idea. No chance of it being ON if we lose our next six games.
Guest Prongsy Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 We should have won the league this year. 11 draws, that's 22 points dropped up until now, and we should have won nearly all of them. We should be out in the clear.

If we can indeed win at Reading and actually beat (:gasp: ) United, we could then therefore "become challengers" I think most of us agree that there is not a real chance of winning the actual title, but most of us would have been happy with a genuine challenge to the leaders - we might actually get one this year. If we can scare the 3 ahead of us and finish 5-8 points behind them, I think it could be called progress. Just had a look at the fixtures and especially at the 6 pointer matches between the "top 4": Chelsea v ArsenalMan Utd v LiverpoolArsenal v LiverpoolMan Utd v ArsenalChelsea v Man Utd Arsenal & United have to play the each other aswell as Liverpool and Chelsea (3 huge games)Liverpool and Chelsea only have to play Arsenal and United The league could be faced with a HUGE run in, and if we are positive and continue our form and actually beat both Arsenal and United and they take points off each other.......it possibly could lead up to Chelsea winning the league.
