after appearing to be on his way to the glue-factory not so long ago, he's put in about 4-6 weeks worth of solid & impressive performances. Made-up for him with his goal & deffo deserving of his squad status now. It took a long time for him to start performing, but it's great to see him doing so now.

As one poster so infamously put it - Hyypia f*** off

He has been immense over the past few weeks.

Had a bit of a shakey time after returning to the first team when Agger got injured, but after dusting off the cobwebs, has been superb since.

At the grand of age of 34, he might struggle against pacey forwards, but he's still quicker then them in the brain.

I'd love to win the title for him so that he can complete his medal set.

well just because he scored today and didn't get caught out doesn't mean he's doing well. He still remains a liability at the back.

I think this is a case of positive knee-jerking!

No doubt he's been very solid the last 6-7 games or so. But so has the whole team and if I had a choice I'd still pick Agger and Carra ahead of Sami. It is quite a luxury even for a big club to have such an experienced central defender as backup.

the more games he's played, the better he has become, he may not be fast, but never really was imo, his reading of the game is incredible. However, he can't play two games a week for long and the return of agger will no doubt give him a good deserved rest.

Sami has outperformed Carra with some distance this season, if we have a liability in our back 4 its Carra.

not aty all, I've been saying it for a few weeks now. Still put Agger in ahead of him, but his form has improved immeasurably

Agree with you there. He was never expected to play back to back games for a couple of months in a row so I think he deserves a pat on the back really. 21 goals score a 1 conceded in 5 games (?) is a wonderful record for any team

Bolton are big Sam's kind of opponents. agger's return is vital because it means carra doesn't have to play the more expansive game which is so unnatural to him, running, passing creatively etc. He's the best blocker in the world, his season will pick up when danny agg gets back.

when agger returns, on current form its carra who should be wary of keeping his place. can't compliment sammi more than that.

Agger had a setback, recurrence of the metatarsal, dont expect him back before Xmas.

Good job Sami is back to form.

:( gutted for him, but like you say... good job Sami is back doing a good job. I think bringing Agger back for the 16th could have been a game too big anyway...

Thought Rafa said on Friday that they had new boots being made for Agger, and that he might be ready for Reading.

Liked what I saw from Jack Hobbs today. Maybe they can spot him more for Sami and Carra when they need a rest. I'm concerned about the wear and tear on Jamie and Sami causing one, or both, an injury.

Sami looks pretty solid defensively atm but his passing today was atrocious.

Hobbs looked a different class from that point of view - two 40-50 yard balls that were both superbly placed. Had a good run up field with his first bit of possession as well.

Wonder what Rafa would do if one of Carra or Sami got injured now? Be interesting to see if he risked Hobbs against say Utd or put Arbeloa in there. Not that I ever want that question to become reality.

Theres a few chances to rest Sami anyway if he gets knackered, Chelsea or boxing day against Derby would be fine.
