mick Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 New Nou Camp.......sorry if this is a Romario Anyway Barca are spending €250m on the Nou Camp and bring the attendance up to 108000. Norman Foster firm is doing it http://www.fosterandpartners.com/Projects/1552/Default.aspx
fyds Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) Identical to the allaniz arena. WTF?Not quite the same as the Allianz Arena, which looks like a tyre - this looks more like a hippy festival yurt - it will 'age' very quickly. Certainly makes you realise how genuinely innovative our new design is. Edited September 23, 2007 by fyds
jon_hall Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Can't be any worse than the car park it currently looks like.
Rimbeux Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Not for me that, looks like an extreme reaction to the Munich and Vallencia ones. Ours looks more like something Foster would do.
muleskinner Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like it, it needs something bold doing to it as it one of the ugliest grounds there is at present.
cymrococh Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like the design, but I suspect it could end up looking grubby in real life.
mick Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 I like the design, but I suspect it could end up looking grubby in real life. I'll reserve judgement until I see it completed.........Artistic impressions are one thing

Jay Blizzay Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 It looks like marble cake with hundreds and thousands on it
Nebraska Red Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 it looks like one of those new fangled automatic toilet bowls. ugly.
New York Red Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 it looks like one of those new fangled automatic toilet bowls. ugly. With a big, steaming curler in it...
eth Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like it, the picture showing the light shining through to the inside looks great. Patchworks of multicoloured light as if through stained glass windows. No idea how it will age though.
Stanley Leisure Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Identical to the allaniz arena. WTF? Big tax dodge that place.
fyds Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I'm not convinced our design wont age quickly or look dated.I think ours being a more wholly original design, will become so clearly identified as 'Anfield' that it will go on to be an iconic structure, identified entirely with the club. As such, it will stand a better chance of becoming 'timeless' by strong association.

Eskimo Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 It could go either way but initial reaction seeing the pics is wow. I think a lot will depend on the surroundings, I know that they are re-constructing large areas of Barca but I'm not sure if that's one of them.
Bald Devil Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 It reminds me of Will Alsop's cloud that got f***ed off by the City Council.
Jarg Armani Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 barca's passionate fans will make it a terrifying cauldron. i am joking yes.

Thought the only part that is being re-developed is what they now call Diagonal Mar? Think it's the bit where it runs down to Poble Nou. They started down there a few years back, not sure if any other area has been targeted in the same way.

They started down there a few years back, not sure if any other area has been targeted in the same way. Yeah I know about Poble Nou as both my mother and sister now live there. Was the old industrial zone back in its day and in all fairness a dump, they started re-developing in the early 90's and moved all the businesses out to a new industrial park on the outskirts of the city. Poble Nou is now one of the most expensive districts. Mum bought a 2 bed flat in one of the very first apartment buildings overlooking Diagonal Mar Park, which is a stone throw from the beach and its almost doubled in value in the 6-7 years she's been there. My sister has also just bought an apartment in the area just down the road in fact, off out there in a couple of weeks to give her a hand moving in
